Airsoft Gun Research Paper
Say your airsoft gun isn t getting the range you want. Your bb s shoot about 100
feet then plummet faster than my Calculus grade. Here s how to effectively
increase your range by flat hopping your airsoft gun. There are 5 steps on how to
do this and I will go over each one. The first step is to disassemble you gun and take
out your inner barrel and hop up assembly. For this example we are going to be
using a standard M4 replica, which are the most common airsoftgun on the market.
First push out the upper receiver pin on your gun, it may be tight so you should
use a pointed tool to help you knock it out. The upper receiver pin you re knocking
out is located on the left side of the rifle just below the threads of the receiver. Once
it is out you can slide the upper receiver off of the lower receiver. Once you slide it
off you can then take out the inner barrel and hop up assembly. Once it is out you
can place the receivers to the side and proceed to the next step. Step two is to
disassemble the hop up assembly from the inner barrel. To do this... Show more

First take your hop up assembly and find the pin holding the arm of the hop up in
place. The pin should be sticking out and it should be easy to find as it is near the
top of the hop up unit. Once the pin is out put the pin in a safe spot as it is a very
important piece. After the pin is out and in a safe place lift up or remove the hop
up arm. You can use a small tool to lift it up or remove it easier. Once it is up look
at the end of the arm and there should be a small circular rubber nub on the part of
the arm that was inside the hop up. Remove the small rubber nub and replace the
circular nub with a flat nub, hence the name flat hop. You can use a small piece of
a pink rubber eraser or a brand name flat nub. Use a small bit of super glue to hold the
nub in place on the arm while you proceed to the next

The Negative Effects Of Homeless Students
Problem Statement
With youth homelessness continuing to rise, schools are not prepared to respond to
the needs of these students. Homeless youth lack the adequate support within their
schools to succeed academically, socio emotionally, and mentally, resulting in
homeless youth not given the opportunity to thrive in their current setting.
Current Assessments/ Needs
LAUSD currently has 11,581 identified homeless students. (Homeless Education
Program LAUSD, 2017) There is various negative effects associated with student
homelessness. Homeless students are at risk for hunger which affects which affects
their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Homelessness also
affect their mental health and are more at risk for depression and anxiety disorders
and may experience traumatic stress. (LAUSD HEP Presentation, 2013 2014)
Homelessness is also linked to poor physical health, including malnutrition and
exposure to environmental toxins and chronic illness. (Effects of Poverty, n.d)
Homeless students are also less likely to have adequate access to medical and
dental care and use the emergency room as their primary source of care. Homeless
student also miss educational opportunities. (Effects of Poverty, n.d) They are twice
as likely to have a learning disability, repeat a grade level and score lower on
standardized tests. They are more likely to be suspended and have their education
interrupted or delayed which sets them back academically. Graduation rates for

Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners Dubliners
Bria LeeAnn Coleman
ENG 299
Dr. Mark Facknitz
October 12, 2015
Epiphanies in James Joyce s Dubliners Characters in Dubliners experience
revelations in their every day lives which James Joyce called epiphanies. Merriam
Webster defines an epiphany as an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure.
While word epiphany has a religious connotation, these epiphanies characters in
Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility of reform that
epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand
their circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations,
characters go back to their lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see
their situation fully, which is the reason they lacked reaching their full potential.
Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic positions that Joyce saw as the fate of all
Dubliners. In each story, he gave each individual the possibility of an epiphany, but
often the characters failed to break through and see their ability to change their
situations, because of this, some of these epiphanies occur only on the narrative level,
showing the reader that the story s character missed their epiphany. In fact, in The
Dead , the scene is set on/around January 6th, which is the Feast of the Epiphany.
The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ s divinity to the
Magi. The Dead is also Joyce s last chance to make clarity of an epiphany. Will this

Kindred Gender Equality
In our society today, we have made a lot of progress in terms of race and gender. In
comparison with Kindred by Octavia Butler and To Sir, With Love, we have
moved forward in our relationships with and how we view people of a different
race and a certain gender. In Kindred, we are shown how blacks were mistreated in
the antebellum south and women were used as rag dolls to their masters as this was
all acceptable. While viewing To Sir, With Love, it demonstrated how blacks were
still struggling with discrimination, as well as, the stereotypes that women belong in
the household, cooking and cleaning. Although we have advanced since those times,
we still have racismand gender stereotypes today and still have quite a bit to learn
and areas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Together we have learned and grown to see that everyone is a person that deserves
his/her own rights. This does not mean that we have achieved racial and gender
equality though. It is a fact that racial and gender biases are still in existence.
These racial biases include individuals walking the other way when a black man is
approaching them, making racist remarks, not approving of our African American
president, etc. Gender inequality is also an issue with women not getting paid equal
wages as men for the same job, are portrayed as weak, men are held to certain
stereotypical society pressures such as being physically and emotionally strong, etc.
Obviously, there are still certain things we need to learn and

The Cost Accounting Center Of Excellence
Several years ago, the company set out to create a Cost Accounting Center of
Excellence . The initial development of the project was at the request of the Chief
Financial Officer the executive sponsor. The main goals set for the team concentrated
on harmonizing the ways of working for all manufacturing facilities in The United
States, centralize the execution of the cost accounting function, and reduce
administrative costsassociated with performing the cost accounting function. The team
structure included a Steering Committee comprised of the Chief Accountant, Director
of Business Excellence, and a Business Group Controller (i.e. Stakeholder). The
Steering Committee provided the oversight and guidance of the core team
responsible for executing the vision set forth in the project charter. This structured
design represented a formal group. A formal group is, by definition, formed by a
manager to assist the organization to accomplish its goals [Kinicki Fugate, p.227].
Due to the technical nature of the subject matter, the Steering Committee delegated
significant latitude and a high level of autonomy to the core team in performing the
tasks assigned. As a result, the team proceeded, in several respects, as a self managed
team given administrative oversight for the domain tasks [Kinicki Fugate, p.240].
The core team consisted of cost accountants, technical accountants, IT specialists, and
manufacturing personnel. This cross functional team used the complementary skills to

King Philip Metacom s War
King Philip
Metacom, known as King Philip to English colonists, was the leader of the
Wampanoag Confederacy during the 17th century. Years after his birth, Metacom
would be the cause of King Philip s war, which resulted in the death of more than six
hundred settlers, as well as the destruction of multiple colonies, and his own death.
Metacom was born circa 1638, and while historians are unsure of the exact location of
his birth, it is thought that he was born in either Massachusetts or Rhode Island. He
later married an Indian woman named Wootonekanuske. Together they had four
children that historians know of; they were later sold into slavery or died in King
Philip s war. Metacom s father, Massasoit, was a grand sachem of the Wampanoag,
who stressed the importance of a peaceful relationship between the Native Americans
and the Pilgrims. After meeting with the colonists at Plymouth, Massasoit was sure
that the English would be excellent trading partners, resulting in peace accords. The
English and Indians traded, and the Indians also taught the English how to ... Show

After the Pilgrims arrival at Plymouth, a treaty was signed in 1621 between the
Pilgrims and Wampanoags, stating that, 1 That neither he nor any of his should

theirs, he should send the offender that they might punish him. 3 That if anything

Rite Of Initiation In Araby By James Joyce
Rite of Initiation
Rite of initiation, sounds like something frightening, but in literature a rite or story
of initiation does not refer precisely to something of terror. The protagonist of Araby
faces experiences for which his previous experiences had not prepared him. In this
case the main character enters a new stage of his life (an evolutionary stage), from
childhood to adolescence. For this reason, Araby, by James Joyce, should be
considered a story of initiation.
The protagonist, and at the same time the narrator of this story is a child that all the
experiences he has had are based on school and play with his friends. He lives in a
small, quiet neighborhood, where day to day life is monotonous. However, the
protagonist loses interest in the games, since something else catches his attention: the
sister of his friend Mangan. This boy spends hours looking at this girl and does not
understand the sensations and feelings that she causes, feelings that come to his life
for the first time to make him discover love.
The protagonist has not lived before a similar situation since it is the first time that
falls in love. This first experience represents a discovery. This child does not
understand the feelings discovered and the state in which he is. (...) I myself did not
understand (...) I thought little of the future. I did not know whether I would ever
speak to her or not or, if I spoke to her, how I could tell her of my confused adoration
(par. 5). The protagonist

How Does Mary Shelley Use Continuity Editing In
Frankenstein
However, the mise en scene still maintains a level of realism, rather than being
abstracted drawings brought to life. The home of Mary Shelley in the film s opening
is ornately decorated with antique furniture, candle sticks, chandeliers, and a large
fireplace. This space, established by the narrative frame as a reality outside the
Frankensteinstory, is stylistically no different from the settings throughout the rest of
the film.
Editing is used to establish clear temporal and spatial relationship within the film
space. The film clearly moves from one space to the next through the use of
continuity editing. Each scene has a cause and effect relationship with the next. For
example, after leaving the Monster in the forest, we are shown the townspeople
assembling with their torches and pitchforks. The film cuts back to see the Monster
chased and captured by the angry mob. Conversations are captured using shot reverse
shot. Transitions between shots are often fades and dissolves. The ... Show more

Minnie arrives at the castle to warn them of the Monster survival, but no one
believes her: Nobody ll believe me. All right, I ll wash my hands of it. Let em all be
murdered in their beds. The film implicates the townspeople in the fate of the
Monster, who, after faced with persistent rejection and disgust, is destroyed at his
own hands. The Monster is even rejected by his own kind. Their uncontrollable fear
and inability to recognize the humanity in him makes his death inevitable.
Despite the influence of German expressionism in the film s style and subject matter,
the Classical Hollywood narrative remains. Important to Classical cinema is clear
unity and resolution at the films conclusion. The narrative is motivated through goal
oriented characters, often driven by deadlines or appointments. Henry is forced to
conduct the experiment because the Monster has taken Elizabeth hostage. The
narrative progresses through cause and

The Unknown Citizen By Auden
The Unknown Citizen, written by W. H. Auden, is a poem that describes a man
who lived a life most people would see as ideal. The man illustrated by this poem
did what society expected him to do, which resulted in a model life. This poem,
however, can be seen in more than one way. Some may see the story in the poem
as a description of a man who had an unfulfilling life because he did exactly what
was expected of him. Instead of trying something new, exploring the world, or
making a change, the man did what everyone else regarded as acceptable. W. H.
Audens poem can be seen from two perspectives: the man who lived an ideal life
that many people sought to have or the man who lived an unfulfilling, ordinary life
which caused him to blend in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
W. H. Auden s poem, The Unknown Citizen, is a great example of this because one
can find at least two meanings within the poem. One person could see the poem as
a description of a perfect man while someone else could see the poem as a message
to be unique and make a change in the world. The man in the poem fulfilled society s
expectations, but at the same time, the man may not have had a fulfilling life. These
two ideas could not be the only interpretations of the poem. Other readers may
discover their own meanings or explanations of the poem. Overall, the speaker in The
Unknown Citizen describes the life of an unknown man, but the reader must decide
the message behind being

What Does Red Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter
A man waving a red sheet before jumping out of the way moments before a bull
charges past. The red army fighting for communism. A red light coming on
followed by all traffic stopping. The color red is a very common symbol, it appears
all over history, in the book The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and it is the
colorof the scarlet letter itself. Historically the color redis used to symbolize many
things, for example it is one of the most common colors on flags of different
countries around the world. If so many people all across history use a certain color far
more than any other, then it must have some more significant meaning. Ancient
Egyptian art includes very deliberate color choices with each color symbolizing
something unique... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Red would denote a dangerous character or aspect of a story (Mark). In The Scarlet
Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne Hester Prynne committed adultery and her
punishment was to have the letter A sewn onto her clothing so that she would be
marked as a sinner and everyone would know about the terrible sin that she
committed. The letter was to be red, or scarlet as it is referred to in the book, this
symbol is meant to signify that Hester Prynne was evil. Contrary to its meaning the
first time Hester is seen wearing the scarlet letter it is described as being very
beautiful, But the point which drew all eyes, and, as it were, transfigured the
wearer so that both men and women, who had been familiarly acquainted with
Hester Prynne, were now impressed as if they beheld her for the first time was that
SCARLET LETTER, so fantastically embroidered and illuminated upon her bosom
(Hawthorne 54). This contradiction accurately embodies the sin of adultery. So
forcibly did he dwell upon this symbol, for the hour or more during which is periods
were rolling over the people s heads, that it assumed new terrors in their imagination,
and seemed to derive its scarlet hue from the

A Short Note On Elastic And Inelastic Traffic
Elastic and Inelastic Traffic In this day and age, the design of networks can puzzle
some individuals. In fact the naming of the devices within a network can be very
daunting if someone takes into account that everything can be named within a
network or internetwork. This might include items such as workstations, printers,
servers, switches, routers, mobile devices, and tablets. A great designed and
executed naming style could easily permit the users the ability to browse with
ease and connect to these pieces of equipment by name. Each device s name is the
beginning of the variables that need to be checked into, and also the network
address. The different ways that are discussed within this paper apply to being able
to map an address with its name and varies from both static host files and dynamic
domain name systems (DDNS) (Mitchell, 2015). Unlike DNS that simply functions
with static IP addresses, DDNS is also created to support dynamic IP addresses, like
those that are appointed by a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server
(Mitchell, 2015). The utilization of dynamic name resolution methods are at many
times the best decision. The naming method that is chosen must be constant all over
the network and names need to be unique, significant, and small. This naming
method will also allow a user to look for and identify names that are assigned to the
devices. Development of an Addressing and Naming Model Within the scenario
given, the organization is made up of ten

The Problem With Illegal Aliens
Introduction Despite the multiple laws and policies that were implemented in the
United States, there is still a problem with illegal aliens or immigrants. The U.S.
government has spent millions of dollars to secure our southern border but, with that
being said, the government has charged the Department of Homeland Security to
create and implement new and innovative ways to justify and solidify those polices.
In this case study, there will be a focus and analytical approach to three of the main
issues which continue to surface on immigration enforcement. These issues are: who
is an illegal alien; who can detain illegal aliens; and when can they be deported?
Who is an illegal alien? To the average citizen, an illegal alien is an ... Show more

eight years before 300 plant workers were arrested... Most of the workers arrested in
the raid have been deported, but others have been convicted of using fraudulent
documents to obtain their jobs, the newspaper said (Savage, 2009). This situation
along with many others lead to the demise of the company many years later. Many
illegal aliens migrate to the United States for work opportunities so they can support
their families. Many people have negative attitude toward these individuals but, not
all of the individuals that migrate to the United States have bad intentions. Many just
are looking for the pursuit of happiness in the American way.
Who can detain illegal aliens? Any law enforcement branch including the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operating under the Immigration and
Nationality Act (INA) has the right to detain any person seeking illegal entry into
the U.S. This Act was passed by congress and is the main law that legislates and
regulates immigration. This authority is prescribed by the Secretary of DHS to all

The Ellen DeGeneres Show Essay
I think what saved me is being honest. I think I somehow had the courage to do
something and to say something that I knew would possibly end my career. Instead
of making business more important, I made my soul and my life more important. And
I think by being truthful, and being honest, that saved me Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen
DeGeneres, well known for her humorous talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is
not just any comedian; she is defiantly one of most inspiring and touching key
figures in the world. Every day she is teaching our society about equality, kindness

Overall, Ellen directed these novels to anyone curious about gays because it shows
that although they might be attracted to someone who is the same sex as them, it
does not change one thing about how of an amazing person they can be on the
inside. Secondly, other than Ellen s novels, Ellen supports the equality of gays as
well through her top hit show. In many of Ellen s shows she brings people who
also have a voice in gay s equality they would like to share, or at times she will stop
her show just to talk about it personally. For instance, in one of her many shows on
February 28, 2008 she stopped and started mentioning a tragic story about a fifteen
year old boy . Larry King; a teenage boy who was gay was shot multiple times by
one of his classmates, Brandon McInerney. The reason why Larry was murdered
was simply because he asked Brandon to be his valentine which to Brandon
threatened him so much he believed he had no other choice . Ellen was heart
broken by this and felt she had to share his story so the world knows how hard it is
for some gays or lesbians who cannot come forward because of the fear society puts
on them. Many people were touched by this story so Ellen promoted some charities
they could donate to show their support like The Trevor Project; which is a 24/7
suicide prevention helpline for homosexuals . There are

The U.S. Arms Policy and Taiwan From the 1970 s to the...
Before Nixon decided to pursue normalization with China in 1971, the U.S. arms
sales policy towards Taiwan was stable because of the Vietnam War effort and
global containment strategy. U.S. pulled Taiwan into its global policy without
much debate, given that choice for Taiwan was indeed limited and its economic
strength as well as defense capability were relatively weak. With US recognition of
the PRC a fait accompli, how to make the new relationships with China and Taiwan
had engaged lawyers and diplomats beginning in 1972 and especially during 1978.

continued U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, regarding it as a violation of U.S. commitments
to end its military alliance with Taipei. After two years of bilateral tensions, the third
U.S. PRC joint communiquГ© addressed this point on August 17, 1982, and
Washington promised in this communiquГ© to reduce and eventually cease the sale

policy of arms sales to Taiwan, that its arms sales to Taiwan will not exceed, either in
qualitative or quantitative terms, the level of those supplied in recent years since the
establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and China, and that
it intends to reduce gradually its sales of arms to Taiwan . To carry out the President s

1. What contractual issues should the contractor pay special attention to before
signing the demolition contract?
Massive and sophisticated demolition work predates the establishment of the
proposed developmental property on the Maltese islands. However, the construction
sector in Malta is plagued by myriad constraints and limitations, rendering the nation
acutely incapable of successfully conducting the demolition through local efforts. The
staff at the disposal of even the largest demolition contractor in the nation consists of
only 20 members, because of which it is ill equipped to execute an undertaking of
this stature and complexity.
Consequently, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such prohibitions enlisted in the contract must also be studied and adhered to with
caution.
2. Discuss some of the fundamental issues that must be considered by any demolition
contractor bidding for the work.
The demolition contract entails the annihilation of a 10,000 square meter warehouse
and three two storied industry buildings in order to ready the site for the construction
of the proposed developmental property. The cost required to be incurred on this
project is estimated at US $10 million. As a large scale demolition and construction
endeavor involving unprecedented costs, resources and strategizing, all contractors
who wish to bid for the project must vigilantly analyze and interpret the fundamental
issues surrounding the execution of the task. These issues have discussed as under.
Firstly, the project involves a very high degree of technical erudition. The buildings
to be demolished lie close to certain historically significant sites and residential areas,
which must be insulated from any sort of risk and impairment. This spells increased
expenditures and efforts on the part of the contractor, and also implies rigorous
financial damages in case the contractor fails to deliver the completed project within
the stipulated timeline.
Secondly, the contractor must examine reports that suggest that portions of the land
being prepared for the new property is polluted. On account of the industrial activities

The Passionate Shepherd
Taking place during spring under multiple weather conditions the comparisons
made between the poems The Passionate Shepherd to His Love by Christopher
Marlowe and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd by Sir Walter Raleigh both share
the similar motives of a Shepherd attaining love in a relationship through different
scenarios. However, the overall message of love differs between the authors by the
difference in their tone. The incorporation of iambic tetrameter in both poems proves
vital to the reader as it allows them to follow a set rhythm and understand the
emphasis made on the last syllables and pay attention to the mood. With the use of
alliteration, the reader becomes aware of particular mood changes drawing
differences between the shepherd s view on love.... Show more content on

Having both poems structured under the AABB rhyme scheme in iambic tetrameter
allows for the poems to have a designed rhythm that highlights certain syllables in
order to draw attention to what the reader should be paying attention to. Both poems
are designed in a pastoral style allowing the authors to include imagery of farmland
and nature to present certain themes. Commonly found through the alliterations
Marlowe and Raleigh use alliterations of nature to develop their scenes and the
mood. When Raleigh uses when rivers rage and rocks grow cold and the rest
complains of cares to come it allows the reader to grasp the intensity of the river
and the emotional feelings the Shepherd has towards the Nymph (Raleigh lines 6
and 8). Similarly, Marlowe uses the alliterations by shallow rivers to whose falls
melodious birds sing madrigals in order showcase the Shepherd passion for the
Nymph (Marlowe lines 7 8). The use of nature throughout allows the Shepherd to
have a platform for professing his love and seduce the

Essay About Whaling In Australia
In this essay I will introduce the histories of whaling, how Australia involved in this
problem and whether it s beneficial for Australia or not. Whaling is the act of hunting
whales for their meat, blubber and bones. The Australian whaling act was put into
effect in the 18th century and the global whalingfirst appeared in 1600 around other
countries. Whales are brutally hunted in pain. The process of killing whales would
take 10 35 minutes to die once it s harpooned. During the time, whales are hanged

The Theory Of Batteries And Electrochemical Cells
In class I was introduced to the concepts of batteries and electrochemical cells. I am
really interested in batteries and how they work and what goes into making a battery.
I was inspired to this experiment mostly because I want to study electrical
engineering in university and I wanted to find out the chemistry behind the
production of the electrical energy in batteries. During my reading, I found out that
the first battery was actually invented by Italian physicist Count Alessandro Volta and
was demonstrated to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1801. Constructed from alternating discs
of zincand copper wit pieces of cardboard soaked in brine between the metals, this
was the first battery that produced a reliable steady current of electricity. The reason
why this works is because, as I found out, batteries use the process of redoxreactions
to create voltage. I also found out that the difference in reactivity leads to the
voltage that will be produced. Voltage is a measure of the amount of energy which
each coulomb of electrons can carry. The more readily a species loses electrons,
the bigger the build of potential energy and the higher the voltage. The reason why
transition metals are used is because they are very good conductors of electricity and
they have seas of electrons so electrons can travel within them fairly easily. There is
a table that provides the results of experiments where these various compartments are
connected to a hydrogen electrode. It is known as the

Lord Of The Flies Are Humans Good Or Bad
Do you think that humans are good or bad? Throughout history, it can be seen that
humans have not always treated others kindly. Even though some humans act kind,
there are still many ways humans are bad. I believe that humans are bad because of
how they treat each other in the book and how people have treated each other
throughout history. William Goldings novelLord of the Flies shows that humans are
bad through how they treat each other. In the book, the other boys on the island
treat Piggy differently because he is different than the others. For example, he has
asthma, is fat, and wears glasses. The other boys treat him as if he and his opinions
and ideas don t matter. Also in the book, some of the boys fight with each other. For
example,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, white people always treated black people differently through
segregation. In history, black people were treated differently because of their race.
They had different places they could eat, separate drinking fountains, and things
for the black people weren t as good of quality as things the white people had.
Another example is that black people would have to give up their seat on the bus
or train is a white person wanted to sit. This can relate back to the Lord of the Flies
because in the book Piggy was treated differently as were the black people. Another
example from history that supports Golding s view that society is bad is the
Holocaust. During this time, many people were murdered and put in prison
camps. This relates back to the Lord of the Flies because two people were
murdered and one kid went missing. Also, in the book, a couple boys were tied up
unless they agreed to do what Jack wanted, which relates back to history because
people were sent to prison camps. I think that humans are bad because in the book,
they treated Piggy differently, just like black people were treated differently than
white. Also, there were two murders in the book. Which can relate to history because
many people were murdered during the

Informative Essay On Violins
Albert Einstein once said, A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit, and a violin; what else
does a man need to be happy? The violin produces a very beautiful sound which
depends on neither the violinist nor the violin. Its long history consists of its known
creators and musicians, the process of its creation, and the types of violins.
The people that make violins are called luthiers (luth ee ers). The earliest known
Italian luthiers were Andrea Amati (1505 ?), Gasparo da Salo (1540 09), and
Giovanni Maggini (1579 30). Most people agree that Amati is the first luthier.
Furthermore, some composers were Arcangelo Corelli (1653 13) who was known for
developing the concerto grosso , a trio, which has two violins and a cello, is
accompanied by an orchestra. Niccolo Paganini (1782 40) was called The Devil s
Violinist for his extreme virtuosity and Antonio Vivaldi (1678 41) is most famous for
his four violin concertos that came to be The Four ... Show more content on

Luthiers create the strings out of gut wound with aluminum, silver, steel, or perlon,
nylon, or wire. They use quarter sawn maple for the back, ribs/sides, and neck of
the violin. The linings are made of spruce, willow, purfling (different woods), or
fiber (thick paper, cardboard). Luthiers use ebony for the fingerboard, pegs, plastic for
the chinrest, or metal for the tailpiece, fine tuners and maple wood for the bridge. The
parts of the violin are the scroll, the pegs for tightening the strings and tuning, the
pegbox, the nut, the neck, the fingerboard for playing notes, the upper bout, the
waist, the f holes for amplified sound, the lower bout, the bridge to convey the
vibrations from the string to the body, the fine tuners to tune, the tailpiece to hold the

Animal And The Presentation Of Captivity
The panthers advocate, our observatory narrator, acts almost as a conduit. The title
gives implications of a third person narrative, yet Rilke channels the animals
emotional state also, affirming how He feels... .The speakers attempt to steal the
gaze of the restrained feline s misted vision, is convincing. Although misted, we are
given a clear insight, of the monotonous and bound lifestyle of the undomesticated
cat. We are informed that the panther is so powerless behind the bars, to the point
of belief that there is no freedom beyond them... Powerless to the point, that even
his strength has become paralysed. It is therefore apposite to examine the
characterisation of the animal and the presentation of captivity that we are
challenged by. The poem is permeated by literary techniques, standing as obvious
signposts planted by Rilke, which spell out captivity. We are lured by the very first
line, due to a confession that the panther can take in nothing more. The lack of
hope and signs of weakness, immediately pull the strings in our hearts, evoking a
reaction. This is formed by a very distinct device, the helpless tone used by Rilke, a
tone which longs for freedom and the reassuring of hope; Appearing also as a
persuasive plea; we hear there is nothing more as there is no more world . Rilke
therefore cries on behalf of the panther who cannot speak for himself. The heavy
accumulation of vision brings no surprise as to why imagery is arguably, the most
effective device

Mattel s Iconic And Best Selling Brand
Mattel s iconic and best selling brand is The Barbie. Introduced in 1959 as The
Teenage Fashion Model, Barbie allowed girls to experience fashion and to explore
various dreams, fantasies and aspirations without ever leaving home. Because of the
introduction of the television in the 1950 s, companies discovered a new consumer
audience among children and teenagers. The post war era saw a strong economy
advancing the middle class suburban families. Now, buying toys became a year round
business versus holiday or luxury items.
Barbie s image has since transitioned from the archaic glamourous 50 s house wife
to an image that has become a part of the American fabric, by reflecting the women
of each generation. The Barbie brand is known for its lucrative collaborations,
having created collector s items for iconic brands such as Chanel, Oscar De La
Renta, Coca Cola, and most famously the Disney Princess line. This franchise has
recently gone through a drastic product rebirth over the past 10 years; modifying
the traditional and controversial measurements, in order to make Barbie appear
more realistic and naturally proportionate and physically diverse. According to an
article in The Atlantic , [Barbie] will now come in a variety of shapes and shades.
(And also: a variety of hairstyles, and eye colors, and face sculpts. ) The doll will still
be fairly cartoonish this is Barbie, after all but, from today, she can be bought in
sizes petite and tall and curvy. (Garber, 2016)

Mary Sexton s The Grimm Brothers And Anne Sexton
Fairy tales provide a means for children to work through their inner struggles and
find solutions. A consistent message from fairy tales that confronts children is that a
struggle against difficulties is unavoidable, but if one steadfastly meets unexpected
hardships and obstacles, then they will be victorious in the end. Briar Rose is a
classic fairy taleabout a princess who pricks her finger on a spindle and falls asleep
for a hundred years. This curse was put upon her when her father decided to
celebrate her birth with a feast, but forgot to invite the twelfth wise woman. The
twelfth wise woman enters the feast full of anger and cast a horrible spell on Briar
Rose. This story of Briar Rose has evolved over time into two stories by different
authors, the Grimm brothers and Anne Sexton. They each have different perspectives
on the author s past and the role of the father making. These differences make the
fairy tale propose two different struggles of both social level and a broken family.
Authors viewpoints are often shown in their writing from their past experiences
which, effects the audience of the story. The Grimm brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm,
were born into the country life being very familiar with farming, nature and peasant
customs. They grew up without a father making them aware of class injustice and
exploitation having some teachers focus only of family social order than a good
student. Multiple times in their life, their social standings effected what they

Itaylain Baroque
The artwork posted above is an attribution of the stylistic period of Italy and Spain

by simply analysing the composition and characteristic of the painting. According to

Spectacle and threacality are the use of light and shados to create a spot light
effect, a term knows as tenebrism. This effect mainly focuses on the on the human
drama and main characters of the story. When looking at the painting you will see
that the background and the surrounding corners are very dark and shadowy in
color, however the chief priest sodiers dressed in balck donot seems to dispear. The
artist used bright and vabrime colors to reflect not only on the faces of the figures,
but alos on their skin and clothing. The skin of the men in the artpiece glose in the
spot light effect, allowing bright colors to contrat from dark once. Another
attribute of the stylistic period is human drama. The man standing behind Christ
has his hands up with his mouth wide open as if he was screaming for help. His
rope fies over the figures heads suggesting motion and desperation. Jesus is the
second figure on the left with a red and blue gown on. It s amazing how the light

position of his eyes suggests street, fear, and disbelieve. He crush his hands together
showing that his user pressure and tension. The third man on the left of the painting
appears to be Peter, because he seems to be protecting Christ from being arrested.
Peter s facial and body expression display anger and the

William Cullen Bryant And The Devil And Tom Walker
An Analysis of American Romanticism
The romantic period,1735 to 1830, for writers is a dark and confusing time, it is a
time when dark things are made to seem better than they are. Many great literary
works come from this period, but at the price of confusing the population. People
believe that emotions and relationships were not just important, but were the very
currency of life. Three romantic era pieces stand out, The Pit and The Pendulum by
Edgar Allen Poe, Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant and The Devil and Tom
Walker By Washington Irving. These stories resemble the best qualities of the
romantic era and maybe even some of the worst. Romanticism itself is a way of
turning even the worst of topics into a more emotional sounding one or emphasizing
a different emotion. Many romantic authors choose to write about death in a way
that makes it sound like a person, so maybe it doesn t seem as scary anymore. Others
may write about war, or personal experience in a way that is not like the original
story. In a nutshell Romanticism is taking something and twisting it into something
completely different.
In The Devil and Tom Walker Irving writes about the Devil in a way that makes
him seem like an eerie lumberjack or even a seedy salesman, he represents the
tempter. He even skims over the fact that Walker sells his soul to the devil and
focuses on the man Walker becomes after he gets what he wants from the Devil.
Tom Walker is a greedy man who cared little for

Reflections On Nonfiction Analysis
Sean Ironmen talks about many difficulties writers have on his story Writing the Z

writers of today. When Sean said Editors don t just want nonfiction they want good
nonfiction. Editors are not getting are not getting good enough submissions as many
of the writers are just studying poetry and fiction. Sean also said Past tense has no
place in reflection. It s not how the writerfelt it s how the writer feels now. I like that
he mentioned this because when I write my stories it s not how I felt back then but
how I feel today. One of the most difficult things to do in nonfiction is to take a
personal event and open it up so that the reader, who s foreign to the experience,
can find something in it. Opening up in my essays is one of my difficulties
because I don t like to read my stories or my personal things out loud. Sean said

Hooke Unnatural Conjugation
When studying putrifying substances , Hooke finds that with strange and unnatural
copulations, several new kinds of Animals are produc d (Hooke 99). What Hooke is
discussing in this passage is what he later refers to as accidental production (Hooke
106), his belief the production of moss, mould, and mushrooms occurs without any
concurrent seminal principle (Hooke 106). Despite the specifics of Hooke s
formulation, his belief in the productive power of strange and unnatural copulations
(Hooke 99) resonates with Deleuze and Guattari s unnatural participations , and
Latour s hybrids. Much like Hooke s microscopic representations, for Deleuze and
Guattari such conjugation involves terms that are entirely heterogeneous: for
example, a humanbeing, an animal, and a bacterium, a virus, a molecule, a
microorganism (Deleuze and Guattari 242). Recent critical theory marks these
couplings as its declared area of study, but for Hooke it exists as an unintended

love God as he loves us.
Edwards also fails to emphasize a major thematic concept of the Bible love. The word
love is used in 539 verses of the Bible. In this sermon it is used only four times. Only
two of those times directly refer to Christ s love for us. Edwards seems to have
shaded this crucial aspect of salvation.
In the very small section of Edwards sermon that he gives his listeners a way out of
being dropped like a spider into the fiery lake, he fails to give their terror release,
still making his message into a threat. Jesus never threatened. God never finds
pleasure in the damning of men s souls. The Lord wishes only for us to be with him.
I agree with Edwards that if we do not come to Christ and obey His commands that
we will spend eternity in hell, but I also believe that our God is a god of infinite
grace and love. This is something Edwards seems not to have felt or appears to
have interpreted in a way that makes God into a spiteful, jealous god waiting to
crush us at any moment. If only Edwards would have realized how crucial Christ s
message of love was to the salvation of his congregation. His powerful invitation of
deliverance would have given people hope and a more

Reflection Paper On Identity
A person s life is made up of an impossibly unique combination of moments,
interactions, and relationships, all of which amalgamate to create a human with an
identity unlike any other in the world. When looking at a person s life up close, it
almost appears as if their identity is something that has been relatively constant
throughout their life, however, if a person s life is looked at a through a more
holistic perspective, it s easier to see how specific events, people, and relationships in
their life made them who they are today. For this assignment, I was tasked with
conducting in depth interviews pertaining to life experiences and identities with
another member of the class. Through the interview process, hidden sentiments arose,
truths were revealed, and I had the opportunity to see the different ways in which my
identity was formed. In analyzing these interviews, I found that through using the
works of influential identity theorists, Daniel J. Canary, Michael J. Cody, Valerie L.
Manusov, Jan E. Stets, and Peter J. Burke, I was able to dissect my interview and
correlate specific instances of my past to aspects of my current identity, specifically
my independent, selfassured, and open minded disposition. The first identity theory
that will be looked at is Canary et al s The Four Cognitive Processes. There are
many facets to this theory, but some prominent aspects that will be looked at are
those of schema, familystructure, and stereotypes. Schema is defined as a

Compare And Contrast The Christian View Of Life After
Death
The Christian and Hindu views of life after death vary, but are also similar in some
senses. The Christian view is that life after death is reuniting with God in Heaven,
and Jesus is the provider of this path through his death and ultimate resurrection. The
Hindu people view life after death in terms of reincarnation, and that a persons soul,
or atman, is reborn over and over again until it reaches moksha, or the release from
the cycle of rebirth, and can finally be at peace. Through a Christian lens, life after
death is when a disembodied soul leaves Earth and travels to heaven, or possibly
hell. Christians believe that once the soul is in heaven, it is once again a person
fully alive with God in his kingdom. In other words, people die physically, but are
alive in spirit with God. There is a constant hope for heaven, and a fear of hell when
Christians contemplate their afterlife. When they pass away in the physical world,
there is a Judgement Day in heaven. This day is when God judges the peoples sins
and repentance, and acts accordingly. The people could either be condemned to hell,
or granted entrance into heaven on this day. Since Jesus died for all human sin, and
conquered death, it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One similarity is that Hindu and Christian people achieve happiness and delight after
a certain point. Christians achieve this when they get to heaven, and Hindu people
achieve this when they finally reach moksha. Another similarity between the two is
that the spirit of someone is the focal point for the afterlife. Christians focus on the
spirit being reborn, and Hindu people focus on the spirit moving from body to body.
The last major similarity is that both of the religions incorporate some sort of
judgement into the afterlife. Christians have a judgement day, while Hindus have a
judgement of karma and sinful actions for each

cultural identities. This added diversity intensifies the pressure placed on physicians
to invest in establishing a personable bond of trust and security between a patient and
his or her caretaker. Western medicinedoes a rather fair job of catering to most
religious beliefs and cultural diversities, but it can vastly improve the personal
attention given to each individual patient. This supposed inattention to individual
patients significantly threatens patient outcomes as a result of the lack of trust
between patient and physicianas well as a clash of ideologies in regards... Show more

Many religions and backgrounds have boundaries that contradict common medical
practices. For instance, a Middle Eastern woman enters the hospital and it is clear
from examining bloodstains through her Abaya and Thawb, common dress codes
for a Middle Eastern woman, that she has suffered lacerations to her abdomen and
chest. This seems like a pretty simple diagnosis and prognosis, or way to go about
treatment. However, it is against her practices to show bare skin in that region to
anyone except her husband. In concurrence with the beliefs of Tsai, the doctor s
primary job is to help all patients in need, but must respect the autonomy of the patient
first and foremost permission is priority (Medicine and Society). Even though it may
not be the best decision, at the end of the day the physician must respect the requests
of the patient. Nevertheless, it is the doctor s responsibility to disclose all information
about the treatment, illness or issue with the patient and let the patient make an
autonomous decision based on the facts provided. On top of all other
responsibilities, a doctor also is responsible for taking all possible measures in
treatment thinking of outside the box ways to treat the problem without having to
invade or disrespect the desires and customs of the patient. The key is that being on

Truman Show Character Development
In the film, Truman Show by Peter Weir, the director used a variety of visual and
verbal techniques to develop the character Truman Burbank. Wier used the
movement of actors, dialogue, props and symbolism to show how Truman
progressed from being a typical all American guy to a courageous man who s
willing to face his fears to break free from the chains that binds him to his creator.
Truman Burbank is a star of his own show The Truman Show and everybody knows
except him. He lives in the best place in the world, Seahaven, where the people are
always friendly and well dressed. The houses they live in are painted to perfection
with well tended gardens. Here, Truman lives a seemingly perfect life with his

Adam left the paradise, Eden, after eating the forbidden truth of knowledge the
same way Truman left his paradise, Seahaven, after learning the truth of his life.
However, unlike God, Cristof wanted Truman to stay in Seahaven because it s the
way the world should be. The ending of the film had left the minds of the audience
in a state of confusion and mixed emotions. Cristof urges Truman to stay, telling
him: Truman, there s no more truth out there than in the world I created for you
the same lies and deceit. But in my world you have nothing to fear. The audience
are torn between supporting Truman in his long awaited new life or wishing him
to stay in Seahaven were they can watch him and be part of his life. Truman s
answer had also likened him to being the second Adam to being Jesus Christ who
sacrificed himself and is ressurected to a new life as Truman sacrificed his
seemingly perfect world where his life is controlled for the sick place where he has
freedom. Symbolism was used to show the audience how courageous and heroic
Truman is.
In conclusion, Weir used dialogue, movement of actors, props and symbolism to
develop the character, truman Burbank. In all of the characters in the film, only
Truman showed a change in character. He was always wishing to get out of
Seahaven, yearning for an adventure and a new life. But he never did anything to do
it; he let his fears and uncertainty to get the best of him. He chose

Rise Of The Taliban
The Taliban is one of the most notorious militant Sunni Islamic political groups in
the world. The majority of people have heard the name Taliban before. It is a name
that carries hate, confusion, and love depending on the person. However, many don t
understand what the Taliban is and how it came about. Some just consider them a
radical terrorist group and some see them as a historic change in government. This
paper is going to explain: who the Talibanare, why they do what they do, and how
they came about.
The Taliban seized control of Afghanistan in the mid 1990 s (Hopkins). Their primary
goal was to make Afghanistan and Pakistan into an Islamic State, more specifically a
Pashtun state. The Talibans were allowed to control ... Show more content on

The Tragedy Of Antigone And Aristotle s Description Of A...
The tragedy of Antigone is an amazing story of the tragedy that Thebes
experienced. At the end of the story one is still left wondering who is the hero and
who is the villain. This question has been asked since the story was ever told.
After reading the story I am going to explain why Creon best suits the role of hero
according to Aristotle s description of a classic hero. Aristotle wrote six
characteristics of a classic hero and I am going to use them to explain why Creon
is the hero. The first thing that must be covered before one can decide who is the
hero of story is the six characteristics of a classic hero. 1. The first traitthat describes
a classic hero is a characterthat holds a high position throughout the play. This... Show

He is part of the noble family that has ruled Thebes for a while. Due to this Creon
fits the guide well so far. Next Creon could be considered to be gifted with
greatness, but is nowhere near perfect. Creon was not born to be in power, but
after taking up rule he shows a strong rule that looks to be promising. A classic
hero must have a downfall caused by them and this is checked off by Creon. When
Creon forbids the burial of Polyneices; he goes against the law of the gods and later
pays for through the loss of his son and wife. He was turned upon by the people and
his son, because they saw that it was unfit for him to not allow the other brother to be
buried and sentence Antigone to death. Following down the list Creon fits the next
characteristic. The loss the Creon experiences is quite harsh and was not really
necessary at any point in the story. Through this loss though he gains wisdom as
the play ends. Creon found the wisdom that he desired. He learned that his pride
was his down fall and it kept him from being great. Now I will show why Antigone
just doesn t add up to being the Hero. Unlike Creon, Antigone has no highly
regarded position in the story. Even though Antigone and Creon are part of the same
family Creon is the one with the noble position. Antigone also shows no natural
greatness. She is just like any other person in Thebes. Antigone dose face a downfall
that she caused by only herself. Her downfall was caused

Examples Of Gender Bias In Julius Caesar
In sexism, gender bias has existed throughout history and still exists today. Gender
bias is frequently called sexism or gender discrimination. A study by four researchers,
Kelly Jones, Cay Evans, Ronald Byrd, and Kathleen Campbell, analyzed videotapes
of teachers while they taught the students in the classroom, then they had the teachers
watch themselves on the video while pointing out the genderbiased attitudes,
languages and behavior; most teachers were surprised to see how they gave their
attention on one gender over the other and the unintentional gender bias happening in
the classroom (A World of Gender Bias, 2015). Researchers recommended methods
for the teachers to use when having to do an activity to decrease the stereotypical
behavior... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sexism puts a barrier on what society views as acceptable for a man and woman to
do. It also may be true that men and women are not necessarily equal physically.
Men are scientifically proven are stronger than women physically in terms of muscles
and athletic ability. Men are physically stronger than women, who have, on the
average, less total muscle mass, to the total body mass and men also have denser,
stronger bones, tendons and ligaments (Burton, 2012). Men tend to be larger than
women in size which makes them tend to carry out more muscles and more muscles
normally points toward having more strength than women. But on the other hand,
people should approach fairness and not equality because sexism has negative
impacts on the people which causes them to commit suicide. In Antigone, Antigone
was a strong, courageous and an independent person and there was no definite
evidence that Antigone was strong and brave person but based on what the readers
gather from the play Antigone seems psychologically capable of the things that she
did more than the other characters. The leading cause of death of women ages 15 to
19 worldwide is suicide and the most expected reason is sexism and gender
discrimination (Valenti, 2015). In Antigone, Antigone buries her brother because she
believes what she is doing is right so she does it but gets punished because she did
what she believed in which

Descartes was a famous French mathematician, scientist, and philosopher throughout
the mid 1600 s. He is often regarded as the father of modern philosophy; however,
his highly influential ideas have also impacted many other scientific fields, including
the world of psychology. Descartes contributions in philosophy and biology have had
a significant influence on modern psychology. He introduced new theories about the
mind and the body that, while not always correct, undoubtedly changed peoples
views and sparked a whole new approach to looking at the mind. There is one thing

It can also be argued that these contributions paved the path for modern behavioral
psychology and more specifically the concept of stimulus response. This type of
psychology focuses on how people behave. Modern behavioral psychologists test
this idea that the brain in responsible for behavior and thinking by manipulating
situations and studying reactions. Descartes had a very mechanistic view of the
brain. He believed the body works similar to machines as it is material and follows
laws of physics. He suggests that mind and body interact at the pineal gland. He

Descartes did a lot of his studies about biology by using animals, just as many
researchers in psychology do today. He opened up the possibility of using animals
as subjects in comparison to humans by looking at both their anatomy and behavior.
Descartes research sparked of a lot of attention. There were people in opposition to

Josh Waitzkin In Searching For Bobby
In the movie, Searching for Bobby Fischer, the main character, Josh Waitzkin, had
many exemplary moments that defined his character. Determination, humbleness,
and empathy are few of the many words that can be used to describe Josh. With
these values embedded within the young chess player, Josh began to show everyone
who he really is. One of the many challenges that Josh faced and overcame was the
constant pressure from his father and his chessteacher. After learning that his son was
quite the chess player, the father signs Josh up with a teacher to further enhance his
abilities. While this may seem harmless, it began to take a toll on Josh. The boy no
longer wanted to participate in chess due to new ideas and systems implemented by
his teacher. Furthermore, the father s exaggerated desire to win put even more strain
on Josh. However, throughout the whole ordeal, Josh... Show more content on

This is where Josh s humbleness contradicted that supposed mindset. Throughout
the film, Josh ends up playing a numerous amount of opponents in chess. One
game in particular really emphasized his value of humbleness the game against his
own father. It was evident from the beginning that the father had no chance to beat
his son. However, Josh did not want to hurt his feelings and held back, allowing his
dad to win. When asked for a rematch with no holding back, Josh won without even
being present at the chessboard his opponent was too easy. Another example of
humbleness would be the final battle of the movie: Josh vs Jonathan. In the final
scene, Josh ends up finding a way to beat Jonathan and offers him a draw before
carrying out his final attack. These two scenes successfully represented Josh s value
of humbleness. He does not insult his opponents or think lowly of them, he respects
each and every one of them to the fullest

Machiavelli, Hobbes, And Locke
Cindy Kim Godrej Leslie Cox November 24, 2014 Paper 2 By looking at the
readings of Machiavelli, Hobbes, and Locke, there are a few distinctions between
how the modern thinkers viewed politics versus the way the ancient thinkers
believed politics should be. There are many topics both modern and ancient
thinkers discuss in their writings, such as the purpose of politics, the science of
politics, human nature, as well as the ideal regime. By doing so, these thinkers
views on political topics such as these illuminate how they thought politics should
work and who should be able to participate in the activity of politics. Purpose of
Politics To begin with, an important theme to discuss is what the modern thinkers
believe is the purpose of politics. Machiavelli believes that the purpose of politics is
the glory and stability of the state, in which we will refer to as statecraft . Hobbes
believes in the security of the population to be the purpose of politics. Hobbes
wants ensure that the people s lives are secure and that there is no opportunity of
leaving them vulnerable to each other. Locke wants to protect certain natural rights:
life, liberty and property. However, when Locke discusses in protecting and
engaging people into politics who own property, it excludes the people who do not
harbor property; which, at that time, was a majority of the population (234). Hobbes
and Machiavelli are both interested in imposing order and avoid chaos. On the other

A Brief Note On Nickel And Dimed
Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich reveals the shocking truth of trying to live
on minimum wage in the United States. Barbara Ehrenreich, a journalist, decides
to experiment living on a low income job after discovering the welfare reform
legislation in 1996. She tries to survive on minimum wage for a month in three US
cities; Key West, Portland, and Minneapolis. In Key West Florida, she learned
about the challenges of working in a lower class job and trying to get by. The only
way to afford basic necessities is by having two jobs or to have someone help pay,
such as a working husband. In Portland, Barbara worked as a housecleaner and
faced the harsh reality of not many people having appreciation or sympathy for
lower class workers. To illustrate, as she kneeled on her hands scrubbing she felt
ashamed when the house owner said, Can you do the same thing in the entryway
while you re at it ? Society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One key takeaway I learned is that when prices go up on items such as housing,
food, clothes, the poor have a difficult time since they become forced into paying
more. Now I believe that unemployment is not the main cause of poverty, it s
simply that humans can t live off a low income job, especially when items are
becoming pricey. Though, the biggest life lesson I learned is that we all tend to
stereotype humans living in poverty as lazy and careless. Though, I realized that
people in poverty may have a job and be extremely hard working. In our society we
believe, if you have a job, you have a home, food on the table, and clothes on your
back. Though, there are many people who work, but can barely afford a decent
meal. Nickel and Dimed exposed me to what the American society has turned
into,......... though, I believe it helped me grow as a person. Now every time I see a
worker I see them with respect and gratitude.

Analysis Of The My Lai Massacre
The My Lai Massacre is a prime example of America s actions in an attempt to
preserve their image, but this genocide also indepthly grasps the concept of the
transitional period from war to sadism. The 23rd Infantry Division of the Charlie
Company under the command of Lieutenant William Calley Jr. committed this
heinous massacre, in sum murdering around 500 unarmed civilians. The victims
included men, women, children, elderly ... no one was spared. According to Dr. O
Connell, a sociology professor in UC Irvine among various other universities, men in
Vietnam were taught to mutilate jack rabbits starting from the throat to their genitalia
and afterwards perform that exact action on Vietnamese villagers who were unlucky

But then again, how are these men, these regular human beings, capable of such
horrific actions?
Monstrous acts are not always committed by monstrous people, but from those who
have witnessed incomprehensible pain and suffering. It was reported by Jeffrey
Kimball that the members of Company C had arrived in Vietnam beginning of
December and were struggling to keep alive by March. During their three months in
Nam, the Charlie Company had lost four soldiers along with the thirty eight
wounded. To continue, a popular Sargent had been blown to pieces two days before
the My Lai Massacre, which could have acted as a triggering device for what was
looming in the not so distant future. These soldiers were also fighting against
guerrilla warfare, meaning they weren t able to relaiate their frustrations and angers
against the enemy because it wasn t open combat. According to my uncle who had
fought in the war, the men in your unit are your brothers, your family. Since
soldiers have minimal contact with the outside world, with the exception through
letter mail and the very occasional television news broadcasts, the fellow soldiers
besides you are what keeps you sane ... at least as sane as one can stay in a
perpetual state of war. I argue that the men who took part in the My Lai Massacre
were not born intrinsically evil, but rather it s the condition that they

Ethos In Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God
Jonathan Edwards author of Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God uses literary
elements such as pathos, ethos, or logos to create fear in his audience to help them
understand the situation he is trying to explain to them.
For example, The Arrow is made ready , this is aimed towards all of those who have
sinned, or have not yet accepted christ, telling them the will punish them if they do
not accept him and repent soon.
This is meant to scare the Audience into accepting christ because no one wants an
arrow unexpectedly piercing into their chests at any time of the day or night.
Sadly this message can only be told to those who were at the church during this
speech, and if you don t want that to happen then you need to accept him ASAP or
else he will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example is, They will be held over the pit of hell like a spider or insects
being held over a fire . The purpose of this metaphor is there to help them understand
how god s wrath may feel like, and to help them decide if they still really don t want
to accept him.
God isn t going to kill you fast he s going to make you suffer until you give up and
accept him or he will kill you slowly with an arrow of the pit of hell suspended like a
spider s web leading down into the flames of the pit.
This metaphor is there to explain to all the sinners who have not come to accept
christ, that god isn t going to be nice if you don t accept him. But he will still give
you a chance to convert or accept him.
The final example is, You hang by a slender thread,
The tread represents how much room they will have for error if they don t accept
christ and how much more threatening it will be hanging over the pit with that, and to
hopefully convince them to accept christ.
The purpose of this is to explain to everyone how much room you will have to mess
up if you don t accept christ. This message is to all of the members in his church
building both who have and haven t accepted christ

Transmission Of Human Immunodeficiency Virus ( Hiv )
Huge strides in the United States in controlling the rate of transmission of human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has been made resulting in a significant decrease of
its incidence since the epidemic advent. During the epidemic s height in the 1980s of
the United States, the CDC estimated its incidence at about 150,000 new infections
per year. This figure plateaued and dropped significantly during the 1990s due to
introduction of highly effective antiviral treatments and due to a overall public
cultural shift with promotion of HIVeducation, HIV testing, and condomuse,
especially among the LGBT community which was affected disproportionately by
HIV infection. However, during the 2000s, a small, growing trend of incidence rates

It was estimated that between the years of 2006 and 2009 alone, the number of
new HIV infections among all 13 to 24 year olds due to male to male sexual
contact increased from 61% to 71%, respectively. This has many implications for
public health efforts because previously those most affected by HIV infection were
adult men who have sex with men (MSM). The current research and work to reduce
HIV is therefore mainly aimed at the MSM population, which may not translate to
curbing infection rates in YMSM. In fact, studies that have looked at individual risk
factors (i.e. unprotected anal intercourse, or UAI) seen in MSM populations as
associated to increased risk of HIV infection among YMSM have found large
inconsistencies. Current theories in the literature suggest that individual
characteristics, social norms, and behavioral patterns within the YMSM population
are highly interrelated and evolving, and individually can not predict accurately who
among the YMSM population is at most risk. One particular compounding variable is
the growing use of technology. YMSM are using technology (i.e. GPS compatible
smartphones) to seek sexual partners which is largely changing their constructed
social environment and relationship patterns. Therefore, there is a call to use a more
multivariate model of risks to better understand useful preventative strategies to
