Integrated teaching Integration -coordination of different activities to ensure harmonious functioning. From the latin word “INTEGER” means WHOLE
Integrated teaching An integrated approach allows learners to explore, gather, process, refine and present information about topics they want to investigate without the constraints imposed by traditional subject barriers ( Pigdon and Woolley, 1992)
I ntegrated approach It helps pupils get a unified view of reality, and enhances their capability to acquire real-life skills. An integrated approach has roots in early childhood education, where a hallmark for quality is the seamless interconnection of development domains and content areas. John Dewey claimed that learning could be more meaningful if content areas are blended for curriculum and instruction
Integrated Education T he concept of integrated education emphasizes methods which concentrate on viewing the student as a whole person . T he idea of integrated education is not only about how to make a smart person , but to make a good person as well.
Integrating Values, Concepts and facts in teaching the Specific Subject Matter
- Defined as organization of teaching matter to interrelate or unify subjects frequently taught in separate academic courses or departments. -The information or ideas discussed or dealt with in a book, movie etc. what is something about A person’s Principle or standards of behavior; One’s judgment of what is important in life Values? Subject Matter? Integration? What is?
The Nature of Values Moral Values- natural law; “ Do good and Avoid Evil ” The concept of Values Integration Values Integration does not mean quoting a value and discussing it.
Integrating Values with Subject Matter One way to make your lessons meaningful is to integrate value. The ultimate purpose for information is formation and transformation.
If ever there is an attempt the integration is so superficial that is cannot touch minds and heart or the integration is quite artificial that the Value integrated seems forced just to comply with the mandate of value integration.
All subjects can be serve as avenue for the integration of VALUES
