1. Introduction Internship : an industrial based practical training program that prepares trainees for the tasks they are expected to perform. Internship program is carried out in 16 weeks ( 4months ) Intern- 3 rd Year completed Engineering students who are eligible for the program

2. Objectives To enable students get hands-on/real life experience. To provide an opportunity for students to apply the principles into real-life problem solving situations. To provide an opportunity for students to interact with the stakeholders and potential employers To develop student understanding of work ethics, responsibilities and opportunities.

3. Stakeholders Responsibility 3.1 AASTU Responsibility Identify appropriate industries for internship program, Follow up & monitor the program implementation, at least two times academic mentors will supervise students activities, Take corrective measures if any, Evaluate the students performance, Give appreciation for cooperative industries,

3.2 Industries Responsibility Give opportunities for students to learn, Give orientation about their industries work ethics, schedule, rules and regulations, Assign appropriate professionals and monitor the work and evaluate the performance of students, Give feedbacks for students and to AASTU, Provide students evaluation result on time with sealed envelope,

3.3 Student (intern) responsibility Respect the work ethics, rules & regulations of industries Perform the assigned tasks in professional manner Record the daily activities and report weekly and monthly Perform and complete the internship program with in the given time period Report to the industry mentor and academic mentor in case of emergency if any Shall not violate the rights & freedom of other students, member staff & the public

4. Report Format Guideline The three monthly reports shall be: Minimum of 5- 7 pages brief report is required For monthly reports redundancy shall be avoided & focused on what is done by the student, The final report shall be a minimum of 15- 20 pages, The final report shall be the summary of the whole activities in four months internship program, The final report will be submitted to AASTU & Industry

Cont’d 4.1 Reports Criteria Sentences shall be grammatically correct, Words shall be correctly spelt Reports shall be typed Reports shall no be written in point form Report shall be functional style & Straightforward Coherent ideas are grouped in separate paragraphs

4.2 Format of Reports Cover Page University name & logo, School, Department Title of Report Company(industry) name Name of supervisors( Academic & Industry based) Student full name & ID No. Date of report

Cont’d Table of Contents Content of report with chapters & Page numbers List of tables & figures Acknowledgement Give acknowledgement for industry, persons, organizations (optional)

Cont’d Main Text What skills & experiences have you got? What kind of responsibility have you taken? How have you discharged your responsibilities? What kind of opportunities and challenges have you faced during internship? etc

Cont’d Conclusion & recommendation Conclude remarks based on performance, observation & training experience, Recommend what things shall be improved, References List books, manuals that you have read for report writing & experience gain training

Cont’d Appendices & Attachments Charts, figures, photo, computer code, company forms, student log book, report clearance form, feedback form etc, This shall be incorporated in final report only,

5. Evaluation guidelines Grading Company (industry evaluation) Students performance, ethics, report, skills etc = 40% Students performance, report, presentation,etc by AASTU= 60%
