The presentation covers the core concepts, uses, different types, and application of Interpersonal Communication (IPC) in a health education context. Interpersonal Health Communication (IPC) is a vital process for individual health education, relying on essential elements like people, message, channels, noise, feedback, context, and effect to facilitate understanding and behavior change. IPC leverages various Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, such as posters, flipbooks, pamphlets, and cue cards, for targeted messaging on topics like Family Planning, Immunizations, and Maternal Health. The presentation distinguishes between Normal IPC, which aims to change the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) of normal individuals, and Therapeutic IPC, which is client-centered and focuses on identifying and overcoming inner and nonverbal barriers, particularly for marginalized populations, by providing culturally sensitive information. Effective IPC requires specific skills, including talent (creativity, storytelling, and building trust) and need identification (understanding the audience's issues and barriers). Successful communication also depends on overcoming various barriers, which are categorized as language, psychological, physiological, physical, systematic, and attitudinal.
