PROBABILITY

The chance that something will happen. PROBABILITY

It is the set of all the possible outcomes of sample points. SAMPLE SPACE

It is the result of a single trial of an experiment. OUTCOME

It is one of the possible outcomes. SAMPLE POINT

Any set of one or more outcomes satisfying some given conditions. EVENT

This principle is all about choices you can make in given many possibilities. FUNDAMENTAL COUNTING PRINCIPLE

PROBABILITY The chance that the event will happen.

Will it rain? Do I need to carry an umbrella today?

- The probability based on reasoning, knowledge must be used in a certain situation to calculate the probability of an event that will happen. This is the probability based on math theory. Theoretical -what we expect to happen, the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes to the total number of outcomes.

Theoretical P (E) = Number of favorable outcomes Total number of outcomes

Without the data, what is the chance that it will rain today?

Clariss is asked to choose a day from a week. What is the probability of choosing a day which starts with S ?

If one letter is chosen from the capital of the country Indonesia, what is the probability that the letter chosen is a consonant?

Of the 45 students in a class, 25 are boys. If the students are selected for a field trip, what is the probability of selecting a girl?

Choosing a month from a year, what is the probability of selecting a month with 31 days?

Choosing a consonant letter from the positively charge particle of an atom, what is the probability of selecting it?

From the team sport composed of 5 members, what is the probability of choosing letter B ?

From the month where Edsa People Power is celebrated, what is the probability of selecting vowel letters from the said month?

What is the probability of choosing the consonant letter from the 9 letter word which is an antonym of the word ugly?

What is the probability of getting consonant letter from the surname of the great mathematician who discover the cartesian plane?

What is the probability of choosing vowel letters from the letter which is a capital of China?

It is all around us and we often come across real-life situations when we have to decide on making a choice from the available options. All these situation demand a decision from us and this is the time when probability theory comes to our rescue. You will come across instances when you have to face problems with respect to the outcomes of your decisions.

ACTIVITY

If a letter is chosen at random from the word PERSEVERANCE, what is the probability that the letter chosen is E? 2. Inside the box are numbers from 1 to 25, what is the probability that; a. All are even numbers? b. All are even number divisible by 5? c. All are odd numbers?
