The world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever.” (Sahih Muslim) This means that life in this dunyā is full of tests and challenges for Muslims. A believer knows that true reward is in the ākhirah (Hereafter) , not in worldly comfort.

This Dunyā is a Test 1) A Place of Trials Muslims face hardships like sickness, loss, struggles, and temptations. These are tests from Allah to see our patience ( ṣabr ) and faith ( īmān ). 2) Not the Final Home Dunyā is temporary. The ākhirah is eternal, and Jannah is the true home for believers. 3) Faith Gives Strength By remembering Allah, praying, and staying patient, Muslims pass the tests of life. Every difficulty can bring reward if faced with īmān .

“Seek help through patience and prayer; indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive (to Allah).” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:45)

Patience ( Ṣabr ) When facing problems, don’t give up or complain. Stay calm, trust Allah’s plan, and try your best. Example: If you fail a test, instead of quitting, work harder and keep faith. Prayer ( Ṣalāh & Duʿā ) Turn to Allah in every situation — good or bad. Prayer connects your heart to Allah and gives peace. Example: If you feel sad or scared, pray two rakaʿāt or make duʿā .

Why Both Together? Patience trains your character. Prayer strengthens your soul. Together, they make a believer strong in facing life’s tests.

Importance of Faith ( Īmān ) and It’s Role in Daily Life Definition of Īmān (Faith) Belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and Divine Decree (Qadar).

Why Faith is Important Gives purpose and direction in life. Strengthens the heart and mind. Guides Muslims to obey Allah and avoid sins.

Role of Faith in Daily Life Encourages honesty, kindness, and responsibility. Helps Muslims face challenges with patience ( ṣabr ) and gratitude ( shukr ). Inspires worship ( ṣalāh , duʿā , dhikr) and good deeds.

Consequences of Weak Faith Leads to neglecting prayer and worship. Increases bad habits and sins. Causes hopelessness and lack of direction.

Examples of Strong Faith in Action Performing ṣalāh on time. Telling the truth even when it is difficult. Helping parents, family, and community. Staying patient in hardship and thankful in ease.

The Story of Prophet Ayyūb (AS) Prophet Ayyūb (AS) was a prophet of Allah who lived many years ago. Allah blessed him with wealth, land, good health, and a large family. He was known for being kind, patient, and always thankful to Allah. But one day, Allah tested him. Ayyūb (AS) lost his wealth, his children passed away, and he became very sick. His illness lasted for many years, and almost everyone left him, except for his loyal wife who took care of him. Even though he suffered greatly, Prophet Ayyūb (AS) never complained or lost hope in Allah. Instead, he prayed sincerely, saying: “Truly distress has seized me, but You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.” (Qur’an 21:83)

Allah loved his patience ( ṣabr ) and strong faith ( īmān ). After many years, Allah cured his illness, gave him back health, wealth, and a big family once again.

Lessons from Prophet Ayūb’s Story Have patience ( ṣabr ): Even in the hardest times, never give up on Allah. Be thankful ( shukr ): Whether in ease or hardship, always remember Allah’s blessings. Strong faith ( īmān ): Trust that Allah’s plan is full of wisdom, even if we don’t understand it at first. Hardship is a test: Challenges bring us closer to Allah when we face them with faith.

What does the Qur’an tell us to do when we face difficulties? Why is it hard to practise patience without prayer? Give one example of how prayer can help you in school or at home. Think of a small challenge you faced recently — how could you have used patience and prayer to handle it better? How does this teaching remind us that we need Allah in both good and bad times?

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "The Messenger of Allah ( saas ) never abandoned these supplications, every morning and evening: Allahumma inni as' alukal -' afwa wal -' afiyah fid- dunya wal -akhirah. Allahumma inni as' alukal -' afwa wal -' afiyah fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali . Allahum-mastur ' awrati , wa amin raw'ati wahfazni min bayni yadayya , wa min khalfi , wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali , wa min fawqi , wa ' audhu bika an ughtala min tahti (O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and in the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religious and my worldly affairs. O Allah, conceal my faults, calm my fears, and protect me from before me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in You from being taken unaware from beneath me)." Waki' (one of the narrators, explaining) said: "Meaning Al- Khasf (disgrace)."
