INTRODUCTION OF HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY D- PHARM-I E.R.20 PREPARED BY MISS. RUBI S.KHAN (PRINCIPAL) DNYANDEEP COLLEGE OF PHARMACY SHITALWADI, RAMTEK. PREPARED BY MISS. RUBI S.KHAN. (PRINCIPAL) DNYANDEEP COLLEGE OF PHARMACY SHITALWADI, RAMTEK.

ANATOMY Anatomy is a branch of science in which deals with the internal organ structure is called Anatomy. • The word “ Anatomy” comes from the Greek word “ ana ” meaning “up” and “tome” meaning “a cutting”. • Father of Anatomy is referred as “Andreas Vesalius”. Subdivision Of Anatomy 1.Gross anatomy:- study of the structure of body that are visible to the naked eye. It futher classified as, Systemic anatomy. Regional anatomy. 2.microscopic anatomy:- study and examination of the different structure of human body using a microscope. It futher classified,

Cytology:- study of the cellular structure abd functions. Histology:- study of structure of tissue of the body. PHYSIOLOGY In the physiology we deals with the working principle of different body systems and interaction between each other. In the physiology we will discuss about metabolic pathway of body system and their activities. Subdivision of physiology, Respiratory physiology. Renal physiology. Immunology. Neurophysiology. Pathophysiology .

SCOPE OF ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY Human anatomy is deals with normal structure, shape, size, location of various part of the body Human physiology is deals with the normal function of various organs. anatomy and physiology together form the foundation of medical science. To understand the pathological disease and pathological changes. To determine the techniques of surgeries. To know the parameter of normal health. To understand the effect of various factors in the physiological process.

SYSTEMS OF THE HUMAN BODY An organ system is composed of groups of structure that work together to perform a common task or specific function. 1.Nervous system Example:- brain, spinal chord, nerves 2. Cardiovascular system E xample:- heart, blood vessels. 3. Digestive system Example:- mouth, pharynx, oesophagus , stomach, large intestine, small intestine, liver, slivery gland. 4.Muscular system Example:- skeletal muscle, tendons

5.Integumentary system Example:- skin, hair, nails, sweat gland. 6.Urinay system Example:- kidneys, ureters , urinary bladder 7.Respiratory system Example:- nose, lungs, larynx, trachea. 8.Lymphatic system Example:- lymph, lymph vessels, spleen, thymus 9.Endocrine system Example:- pineal gland, pituitary gland, pancreas. 10.Reproductive system Example:- testes, ovaries, penis, vagina, epididymis.

DEFINITION OF VARIOUS TERMS USED IN ANATOMY Anterior/ventral:- Direction towards front of the body. Posterior/Dorsal:- Direction towards back of the body. Superior/Cranial:- Towards the head or upper/highest most point of the body of the body proper. Example – Head, Neck. Inferior/Caudal:- Away from head or lower/lowest most point of the body of the body proper. Example- feet Proximal end:- Starting end of the joint or attachments. Distal end:- Ending end of the joint or attachments and most distant region of proximal end
