Islander Housing Residency Requirement The requirement applies to first-year undergraduate students: Who have graduated from high school within the 12 months prior to starting classes at the University. Are full-time students. Will be aged 20 or younger as of September 1 st . Have a permanent address outside of the following counties Aransas, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, and San Patricio and outside the zip codes of 78340. Residency Exemption Auto Exempted – no action needed Students who have a permanent address within the exempt area. Students who will be 21 years of age or over on September 1 of the fall semester. Graduated high school 1 year+ prior to starting classes. Special Exemption – application online at http://housing.tamucc.edu Part-time, online courses only. Living with approved family. Married, have custody of a child, or pregnant.
Community Assistants CAs THROUGHOUT COMMUNITY CAs are full-time TAMU-CC students. Every resident will have a CA in their community neighborhood. “WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK A CA!” Community Assistants are placed within the communities to help them adjust to college life at TAMU-CC. CAs ARE STUDENTS THAT CAN HELP: Build connections and friendships. Foster roommate relationships. Host community events. Answer housing questions & place maintenance work orders.
Start Here! APPLY FOR HOUSING Start your application by visiting www.islanderhousing.com . Academic Year and Spring Only Applications typically open in October. Summer Applications typically open in February. Be sure to select the floorplan you would like to reside in when completing your application. SIGN YOUR HOUSING CONTRACT Once you have submitted your application, a housing contract will be sent to you. Be sure to read this document before you sign it! Once you've read it, you will need to sign the contract.

Move-In Reminders All information about move-in day will be communicated via the Housing Portal and your Islander email! As a reminder your Fall Housing charge must be paid prior to moving in. You will not receive your keys unless your payment is made. Reminder: Payments should be made through your S.A.I.L. account. Prior to move in day be sure all your lease paperwork is complete/signed, and all payments have been received by the University. Make sure to bring a picture ID (driver's license or Sandollar $ card) to check-in and pick up keys to your assigned unit. You will be sent a scheduled move-in date/time. If you are unable to move in during the scheduled time, please reach out to Islander Housing.

Amount varies per floor plan. ROOMMATE AGREEMENT All residents will receive a roommate agreement from their Community Assistants during their first community meeting. This is a document to discuss with your roommates on how you choose to share or set rules within your living space.
Making the Adjustment BE OPENED MINDED Remember that you are going to meet people from different cities, different states, or with different life experiences. Be open to new people and new experiences while living on campus. Our staff is here to help you adjust to this new environment. PERSONALIZE YOUR ROOM This will be your home away from home, so decorate it to your liking. You may use finishing nails and thumbtacks to hang décor on your walls. All furniture must stay in the unit. You can rearrange your room any way you’d like but all exits must be accessible. Do not hang anything from the sprinkler heads and do not tamper with life safety equipment. GET CONNECTED Each community will host their own welcome week events to help students become acclimated to campus culture. The University will also have what we call Waves of Welcome events to help students make connections with other students and campus life here at TAMU-CC.

Safe Living Renters Insurance In case of an accident, it is important to protect your belongings. Renter's insurance can cover the belongings in your space. You can find coverage from your auto insurance, homeowners' insurance, or GradGuard . On-site management We have student staff who also serve on an on-call rotation and complete rounds of the property every night to assist residents for any after-hour emergencies. In addition to this, we have Professional & Maintenance staff members who support student staff after hours. Access Control All units and elevators (MV only) have key/fob access. Only residents will have access to their buildings in the community where they reside. University Police Department University Police are readily available 24/7. They also conduct rounds of both housing communities' multiple times throughout the day to ensure resident safety. See Something, Say Something! As a member of our community, it is imperative that you reach out to our management team and let us know of any safety/building concerns. If you see something that may look suspicious, please inform our staff so that we can inspect & handle the situation.
