4. FLN FUNDAMENTAL LITERACY AND NUMERACY

5. OBJECTIVES FLN is one of the essential elements of NEP 2020. Foundational literacy refers to the basic reading and writing skills that lay the groundwork for enduring learning and communication. It incorporates the ability to understand written texts, express thoughts coherently in writing, and critically analysis information. It is the ability to read and understand a basic text write and perform simple mathematical operations. The Learning outcomes for Foundational learning have been divided into 3 three developmental goals: Goal 1-HW (Health and Wellbeing), Goal 2-EC (Effective Communicators), Goal 3-IL (Involved Learners). The five pillars of FLN are Educational Infrastructure, Access to Education, Basic Health, Leaning Outcomes and Governance.
