Its Its is a possessive pronoun. It shows singular ownership. Example: The deer lay in its snow bed. Its antlers were still covered in velvet.

It’s It’s is contraction of two words: it and is . The apostrophe shows that a letter has been left out: the i in is. When you see the word it’s with the apostrophe, say it to yourself as two words: it is. That way, you will never make a mistake using this word.
