Student Portfolio Myself Hello everyone , I am Jeevitha D and I am currently studying in class 6 th .My mother’s name is Shoba . My father’s name is Divakar . My brother’s name is Nehal Raghava . My grandmother’s name is Shivalingamma . My talent is to do abacus it helps me to solve sums quickly. By doing abacus I get to learn new things. In my free time I like to read books and also cook dishes. I love reading Sudha Murthy’s - ‘ The magic of the lost temple’ , ‘the daughter of the wishing tree and also many more other books. I like to watch magical and cartoon movies. I watch ‘ Just add magic’, ‘Hotel Transvalainiya and also the ‘Trolls’. My desire is o become a Veteranian . So, that I could treat many poor animals and also to make new friends and develop relationship between humans and animals. My role model is Sudha Murthy. She is my role model because she inspires me by her books which are very educational and fun. And also I would love to travel places and writing books. A well known quote said by Sudha Murthy which inspires me is – ‘A women should choose what makes her happy not what the society tells her’.

My Summer Vacation My Trip to Mandya During my summer vacation I went to my hometown , Mandya while travelling we played Antakshari . When we reached Mandya we rested for a while and then we went to my grandparent’s house where there were a lot of pigeons . Me and my brother played a lot. And on the next day it was time for us to leave. But , me and my brother hesitated to stay back . So , we stayed there for a 2 weeks. We went to the park , fields and many more places. I also learned about different types of plants used for ayurvedic and medicinal purposes and I also learnt rangoli . A week passed and my mother came to see us. But , at that time I fell off a table and had a fracture. The doctor said I need time to recover. I was very sad and my parents took me back to Banglore . But , after two months I recovered. At that time I could not go out to play. So , I started entertaining myself by reading books , cooking various dishes , learned to weave and more. Even if I could not go out , t was happy that I had time to enjoy with my family.

Anecdotal story on class Our house is located to the opposite of a ganesha temple. In our layout the temple is very famous and powerful. The priest and his wife used to decorate the god , do poojas and more. Since , the priest's wife had a baby , hence he found it difficult to Do it all alone. So , I helped him to decorate by bringing flowers , Pleating the saree to decorate the god. Whenever I visited the temple I felt happy that I was able to help the priest. The priest appreciated me and he felt gratitude towards my work. I like to serve the god and help people In this regard.

Anecdotal story on culture Culture opens the sense of beauty. There are many cultures in India. My culture is celebrating Hindu Maha Ganapathi , this spiritual place near Manglore in Karnataka is very popular among Hindu pilgrims . It is celebrated on 19 th September which is the day that we also celebrate G anesh Chaturthi. The ganesha temple here is known as Madoba Shree Ganesha Devaru . We believe that gowri and his son ganesha come to visit gowri’s mother bhoomi . In that day we celebrate gowri and ganesha’s arrivals and also give them sweets, ladoos and more. Near chitradurga and manglore . It is celebrated very grandly. With many rituals poojas and traditions like the chanting of Vedic hymns and Hindu texts, such as prayers and vrata (fasting ). In some places in I ndia Ganesha is symbolically worshipped in the form of a cone made of turmeric or cow dung. Food offerings of ladoos (sweet balls) made of til and jaggery (sugar) are offered with great devotion . They also prepare Puran Poli which is a flat bread made up of maida and is stuffed with sweet lentils and jaggery .

Poems “My Mother My Strength” A picture memory brings to me I look across the years and see Myself beside my mother’s knee I feel her gentle hand restrain My selfish moods. And know again A child’s blind sense of wrong And pain. But wiser now, A man gray grown My childhoods needs are better known My mother’s chastening love I own.

“Grateful to have you as my dad” A little girl needs a daddy For many many things. Like holding her high of the ground Where the sunlight sings Like being the deep music That tells her all is right When she awakens frantic with The terrors of the night. Like being the great mountain That rises in our heart. And shows her how she might get home When all else falls apart. Like giving her the love That is his sea and air So diving deep or soaring high She‘ll always find him there.

“To My Grandma” You’ve always been right here for me Right from the start I always knew you loved me From the bottom of your heart.   When I was small you’d pick me up And pat me on your knee You could always make it better And always comfort me.   Despite my tantrums throughout the day You put up with me come what may. She is like my mother Gentle, caring and yet like no other Your beautiful smile and your generous heart Sets your pristine love apart.

Essays My Role Model My role model is Sudha Murthy. She is my role model because her works are very emotional, truthful and so real. She is known for her philanthropy and her contribution in literature in Kannada and English. What makes Sudha Murthy stand out among other writers is that she is very specific to her topic and has humor and real-life in her writings. Her books teaches you valuable lessons on courage, believing in your dreams and the humility required to learn at any age from anyone. Sudha Murthy is a multi-talented woman. She is an engineer, Indian author, philanthropist and a social worker. Sudha Murthy is fourth highest citizen of India. She has been awarded the Padma Bhushan , India’s highest civilian award and many more awards. Her Language of writing is so simple that makes us feel connected. Some of my favorite books of Sudha Murthy are- “The Magic Of The Lost Temple , The Daughter Of T he W ishing Tree etc...A famous quote by Sudha Murthy is that “Good relationships, compassion and peace of mind is more important than achievements.”

My Best Friend There are so many people whom we meet in our journey of life b ut only few of them leave a mark on us. The person who I considered as my best friend has made a significant impact on my life. My best friend is Roshni . I have known her from 2 nd Std. She is very honest, polite, funny and caring. She is a bright Scholar, a good Bharatanatyam dancer and a good basketball player . She is very social towards people and she will try her best to talk in Kannada. She likes to try various dishes like Lemon rice, brinjal rice and more . She supports and Encourages me whenever I am sad. She Is the reason to my happiness. She helps me during my exams and also shares her things with everyone. We enjoy doing things like drawing funny pictures, rangoli , exchanging lunch boxes, solving sums together and singing. We have shared the beautiful moments together and the beautiful thing is that our friendship is still growing .   She is always willing to lend a helping hand and is never too busy to listen.
