1. JESUS heals those who are sick Healing was part of Jesus ministry from the very beginning. Many people believed in him and came to him to be cured of their ailments. Jesus desired to heal people from their sin too. Often when he cured the sick he also forgave their sins. The healing and forgiving actions of Jesus were signs of his power to save us and bring us closer to God. They showed us that he was the Son of God and that God had power over sickness and sin.

The Church continues Jesus healing ministry Jesus healing comes to us through the Church in the sacrament of Annointing of Sick God’s grace and comfort are given to those who are sick or suffering because of their old age. Those who celebrate this sacrament receive strength , peace and courage to face the difficulties that come from serious illness.

5. We are all called to care for those who are sick When a member of the Church is suffering or in pain they are not alone. What happens to one member affects us all because Baptism joins us together as one body of Christ This is why being kind and considerate to those who are ill is so important. Families and friends are called to support their loved ones by comforting them with the words of faith and by praying for them. They should be encouraged to receive the Anointing of the Sick when it is necessary.

6. Support for the Old and Sick people ….. We support those who are sick in our families and parish We visit those who are sick and pray with them Families , classes or youth groups can make time to know people in the parish who need hope and encouragement Priests and deacons of the parish can visit the sick. They read the Bible with them , bless them and offer them Holy Communion. The whole Church remembers those who are sick when we gather for Sunday mass We pray for their healing in the General Intercession of the Mass We should also remember their family members and those who take care of them.
