Kernel sentence

What is a kernel sentence? It is a sentence reduced to its simplest form.

main features of a kernel sentence: Kernel sentence is simple , active and declarative sentence.

A KERNEL SENTENCE is the simplest form of a sentence. It conveys only one idea.

A KERNEL SENTENCE is in the active voice . The subject, the doer of the action comes first in the sentence structure

A KERNEL SENTENCE is a declarative sentence which ends in a period.

Even a sentence with an adjective, gerund or infinitive is not a  kernel sentence .

Kernel sentence is positive not a negative sentence.

The hanging bridge is scary. 1. The bridge is hanging. 2. The bridge is scary.

Good games are short. 1. The games are good. 2. The games are short.

I want to go. 1. I want. 2. I go.

This is a black cow. 1. This is a cow. 2. The cow is black.

I saw them crossing the river. 1. I saw them. 2. They were crossing the river.
