Knobology Summary E.P SAFARI

Before scanning End the current examination Enter details of the NEW patient Select an appropriate examination type Important for Optimization bcs different type of exams use specific frequencies and other parameters to achive optimal image quality Set an appropriate acoustic power ( Best quality, Lowest possible AP ) Age Type of an examination Depth Patient’s body Use the liver as a reference to optimize your image quality Different knobs

During scan/when evaluating the image Structure of interest Take 2/3 of the screen’s FOV To set this use the DEPTH knob (changes the PRF) Change the frequency whenever neccessary, depending on: Target depth (Balance image resolution with penetration) Focal zone (Position and number) Overall appearance Image brightness and Resolution (Spatial, Contrast and Temporal) etc. You may need to adjust different types of knobs. Save the images/videos with body mark, labelled important structures, measurements (if necessary) etc.

During scan/when evaluating the image NOTE : There are no fixed knob settings for an examination. You might occasionally need to change the probe, adjust frequency, Overall Gain, TGC, or any other setting to obtain the best image for different structures. Always follow the manufacture’s instructions on how to change and handle the probe. The quality of ultrasound images depends on the operator's skill . Learn to use your machine effectively!

After the examination End/Close your examination
