INTRODUCTION

Poetry is a type of literature, or artistic writing, that attempts to stir a reader's imagination or emotions. The poet does this by carefully choosing and arranging language for its meaning, sound, and rhythm. WHAT IS POETRY?

Poetry uses language in many ways. By noticing the techniques poets use with language, it becomes easier to understand and talk about a poem. POETRY’S LANGUAGE

Poetry is an art form. It paints vivid scenarios to the mind of its readers. Poetic language is not straightforward. Poets pack the absolute maximum of meaning (in every sense of the word) into every part of the poem. It brings audience in a state of “catharsis” (releasing of repressed feelings). POETRY’S LANGUAGE

He is a prominent poetic writer in the Philippines back in 1900’s Known as “comma poet” Pen name: Doveglion First National Artist in Literature (1973)

JOSE GARCIA VILLA A Filipino writer, poet, and literary critic During his college years, he wrote Man Songs, a collection of controversial poems that was considered too bold by the University of the Philippines and became the ground for his suspension from the said institution.
