WHAT IS TIME
MANAGEMENT?

7
Time Management
Time Management is using the time available to you
effectively in order to get the task done.
In other words, managing yourself to achieve the
desired goals within available time.

8
DETECTING THE DIFFICULTIES IN
MANAGING YOUR TIME.
•Describe the difficulties faced in managing
your time.

9
•In order to manage your time more
effectively it is important to understand
and analyze where most of your time is
going wasted
•To do this we can utilize the simple
technique called R-A-C method
Record
Analyze
Change
DIAGNOSE DIFFICULTIES IN YOUR TIME
MANAGEMENT

10
RECORD:
1.Record your day time carefully and understand
what is important and what is not
2.Do not miss a single activity to be more
effective.
R-A-C Method

11
ANALYZE:
1.Strike out the activity which is must for your
day (for example eating, sleep, work etc...)
2.Highlight the activities which you feel you
should be avoiding from next morning
3.Make a sperate list of time wasted in minutes.
R-A-C Method

12
CHANGE:
1.Keep reminding yourself about the number of
minutes wasted.
2.Try to fit in productive task in place of non
productive task (ex: instead of Social media I will
read a journal on IOT sensors)
3.Reward yourself if you save couple of minutes.
R-A-C Method

13
PRIORITIZING YOUR TASK
URGENT NOT URGENT
IMPORTANT

-Some one needs First
Aid.
-Medical Aid.
-Getting approval of
scheduled task
PLAN TO DO
-Site travel preparation
-Sending updates of Site
-Preventive
maintenance
NOT IMPORTANT
CHOOSE AND DO
-Friend asks for a favor
-Replying to a chat on
social media
AVOID TO DO
-Comfort
-Gaming
-Spending time on
social media
-Gossip etc.
It has so many names, Time management quadrant, ABC
categorization, Four quadrant Rule and so on….

14
Am
I procrastinating?

15
PROCRASTINATION
Procrastination means putting off a task in
hand which should be done now.
Example: Need to mount a cable tie in cell,
let me do it later because cable tie is not in
my hands……!
I WILL DO IT LATER,
ನಾನುಅದನ್ನುನಂತರ
ಮಾ
ಡುತ್ತೇನೆ

16
FORMS OF PROCRASTINATION
•Ignoring the task, hoping it will go away
•Underestimating how long it will take/overestimating
your abilities and resources
•Telling yourself that poor performance is
okay/insisting on perfection
•Doing something else that isn’t very important
•Believing that repeated “minor” delays won’t hurt you
•Talking about rather than doing it
•Putting all your work on only one part of the task
•Becoming paralyzed when having to make choices

17
WHY DO WE PROCRASTINATE?
oThis is certainly an issue in the digital age,
when we all have smartphones in our
pocket and a world of distractions at our
finger tips.
oA task may be too unpleasant to face, or
too difficult, or very tedious, or boring, or
there simply may be so many other more
interesting things to pull your attention
away that you struggle to keep on track.

18
HOW TO PREVENT PROCRASTINATION?

19
HOW TO PREVENT PROCRASTINATION?
There are many strategies to prevent
procrastination. Here is a list of effective methods
1.Take action – instead of thinking what to do, just
start
2.Salami Technique – break the task into pieces
3.Five minutes – give it a try
4.Work on related tasks – recognize relevancy

20
HOW TO PREVENT PROCRASTINATION?
Continued……………
5. Do the hardest bits first – Complete difficult task
first before it starts to bore.
6. Set goals – Use smart goals
7. Make commitments – I will do it!
8. Reward yourself for achievement – Make yourself
happy
9. Change subjects regularly – if you get a boring
feeling

21
HOW TO PREVENT PROCRASTINATION?
Learn to say “No!”
•Avoid the temptation to socialize when you’ve
scheduled work.
•If friends ask you to join them last minute,
decline outright, but ask if you could get together
later in the week.
•Socializing is important when you don’t have
other things to worry about!
•Texts/messages are a major distraction.

22
PLANNING YOUR TIME
In order to use your time effectively, it is
necessary to plan and prioritize your task.
By knowing what you have on in a given week,
you can plan around your commitments to make
space for skill and knowledge enhancement.

23
HOW TO PLAN MY TIME BETTER?
•Prioritize tasks
•Overcome procrastination
•Let go of perfectionism
•Avoid taking on too much
•Set SMART GOALS
•SCHEDULE YOUR TASK
•MAKE A TO DO LIST
•ANALYSE AND REVIEW FREQUENTLY

24
