2. T he Importance of Reading Skills in English (20 minutes) W hy reading skills are crucial for understanding and using English? It helps in academic success, understanding cultural context, and improving vocabulary and grammar. Share your thoughts on why reading skills are important.

3. Strategies for Effective Reading (30 minutes) Skimming It is a method of rapidly moving through a text to get a general overview of the content. This technique involves reading the title, subtitles, and subheadings to understand the main ideas of the text. It’s like looking at a map before starting a journey. Scanning It is a reading technique to be used when you want to find specific information quickly. In scanning, you have a question in mind and you read the passage only to find that specific information. Close Reading Close reading is a strategy for carefully and purposefully reading and analysing a text. Close reading involves multiple readings: The first time, you read for a general understanding; the second time, you might take notes or highlight key points; and the third time, you could summarize each paragraph in your own words.
