EXHIBIT

What comes first into your mind when you see or hear the word drawing?

Drawing

DRAWING Drawing is making a picture of people, trees, plants, animals, houses, and a lot more.

How do artist make drawings?

DRAWING Artists use lines, shapes, colors, and textures in drawing.

EXAMPLES

LINES

LINES Lines are made up of points. When series of point are made, a line is made. Lines can be straight or curved.

2 Types of Line Straight Lines Curved Lines

Straight Lines

Vertical Line These are lines that move up and down. They are called vertical lines.

Horizontal Line These are lines that move from left to right. They are called horizontal lines.

Slant Line These are lines that move from lower left to upper right or lines from upper left to lower right. They are called slant lines.

Broken Line These are straight lines that are not continuous. They look like a series of dashes.

Curved Lines

Broken Line These are lines that changed direction gradually. They are curved lines.

Zigzag Line These are lines that are formed from a combination of diagonal lines. They are called zigzag lines.

Wavy Line These are lines that are slightly curved. They go up and down or from right to left alternately.

How can lines create form?

1. Lines can be varied. An artist can make different forms by varying the size and thickness or thinness of lines.

2. Lines can show movement. They seem to move but they are fixed images. The reason behind this illusion of movement is the way lines are arranged between black and white, or black and empty spaces. The arrangement makes the lines look like they are moving.

Activity Time

Start with eyebrows. Two lines can change everything. Draw big S and small c. Add nose and mouth. Add eyebrow lines and eyes. And couple of lines for hair. Change the mouth line to show feelings. Change the eyes to show emotions. Face and Emotions

Activity: Make a pencil drawing of city or provincial scenes. You may use various lines and shapes.

THANK YOU!
