INTRODUCTION: Puberty causes all kinds of changes in the adolescent's body. These bodily changes are normal part of developing into an adult. There are instances when these changes can be a source of anxiety to the growing teen. Does anyone not worry about smelly breath and underarms?
SEXUAL HEALTH Refers to a state of physical, emotional, mental, and social-wellbeing in relation to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction, and infirmity. HYGIENE Refers to behaviors that can improve cleanliness and can lead to good. Hygiene practices are employed as preventative measures to reduce the incidence and spreading of diseases for the preservation of health. REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH Refers to the state of complete physical, mental, social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes at all stages of life.

A person should have some basic knowledge of the following types of hygiene: GENERAL HYGIENE: Hand washing- Most infections, especially colds and gastroenteritis, are caught when we put our unwashed hands, which have germs on them, to our mouth. Some infections are caught when other people’s dirty hands touch the food we eat. Hands and wrists should be washed with clean soap and water, using a brush if your fingernails are dirty. Some guys who grew facial hair like to let it develop into a mustache and beard. Some girls may decide to leave the hair on their legs and under their arms as is it all up to you and what you feel comfortable with. If you decide to shave, whether you are a guy or a girl, you have a few different choices. You can use a traditional razor with shaving cream or gel or you can use an electric razor. Oily Hair - E ach strand of hair has it own sebaceous(oil) gland which keeps the hair shiny and waterproof. But during puberty. when the sebaceous glands produce extra oil, it can make your hair look too shiny, oily or greasy. Washing your hair everyday or every other day can help control oily hair.
Sweat and Body Odor - Perspiration, or sweat comes from sweat glands that you have always had in your body. But thanks to puberty, these glands not only become more active than before, they also begin to secrete different chemicals into the sweat that has a stronger smelling odor. You might notice this odor under also have new smells. The best way to keep clean is to bathe or shower everyday using a mild soap and warm water. This will help wash away any bacteria that can contribute to the smell. Deodorant or antiperspirant - used to control underarm odor after puberty; many people not only bathe or shower.

Wash the outer genital area (Labia) making sure to get in between the folds, and the area between vagina and the anus daily with warm water (if using soap, use only unscented varieties) Menstruation - wash your body, including your genital area, in the same way as you always do. Tampons- the kind of protection a girl wear inside the vagina when she menstruates. And should be changed at least every 4-6 hours. Sanitary pad or sanitary napkin- this kind of protection a girls wears in her underpants when menstruates. Douching – cleaning the internal part of vagina with fluids like water mixed with vinegar, baking soda, etc. but can destroy natural bacteria, can cause irritation, burning and other complications
Cystitis - is an inflammation of the bladder caused by bacterial infection leading to UTI Thrush – fungal infection caused by yeast; some soaps and detergents can irritate the skin of the vagina, and make thrush infections more likely.
FOR MEN : And a man with an uncircumcised penis can clean it by gently pulling back the foreskin and washing underneath it with warm water or soap. A build-up of secretions called smegma can form under the foreskin of uncircumcised men. If you are uncircumcised, gently pull back the foreskin when you have a shower and clean with water. You can use soap if you like, but make sure you rinse it off well.
