MATATAG Lesson Demo Philippine Money (Coins and Bills) Teacher: Gemma L. Castro Grade I - Mathematics
I. OBJECTIVES A. Content Standards: • Denominations and values of Philippine coins and bills up to ₱100 • Addition and subtraction of money less than ₱100 B. Performance Standards: • Recognize values of coins/bills up to ₱100 • Add/subtract money up to ₱100 C. Competencies: • Determine value of bills/coins (no centavos) D. Learning Objectives: • Determine values • Write amounts in proper notation

IV. PROCEDURES (A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES) • Short Prayer • Action Song • Drill: Skip counting by 5’s and 10’s • Review: Recognition of bills and coins (shapes, colors) • Motivation: Buying fruits for fruit salad with money
Fruit Salad Ingredients Banana = ₱20 Apple = ₱30 Mango = ₱50
Lesson Proper Story: Bella and Brylle saved money. Bella claims she has more than Brylle. Learners will: • Identify values of their savings • Compare amounts • Discuss proper notation (₱75.00)
B. EXPLORATION Guided Group Activities: Rules: Wait for turn, avoid unnecessary movements, be cooperative Activity 1: Perfect Match (Money & Value) Activity 2: What’s the Value? Activity 3: Exchange (₱50 = two ₱20 + one ₱10)
C. REALIZATION Q: How do we write the amount of money? A: Use peso sign (₱), point, and zeros after the point.
D. EVALUATION Find the value of the following: • ₱50 + ₱20 + ₱10 = ? • ₱100 - ₱25 = ?
E. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES Practice more problems at home with coins and bills.
