2. In creole sometimes we use the term wood to describe pure wood and manufactured boards. Manufactured boards are man made materials . Instead of throwing away waste wood, they are used to create a new category of materials which are called manufactured boards. Examples of manufactured boards: Plywood, Medium density fibreboard , Blockboard , Chipboard.

3. Plywood Construction method. Plywood is made from wood veneers glued together. An odd number of veneers are used. Glue applied between an odd number of veneers. Then pressure applied to the veneers. The glue is allowed to set.

11. Chipboard Also (called particleboard) Construction method. Chipboard is made from wood chips. The wood chips are mixed with resin (glue) the mixture is pressed under heat a p ressure.

14. Advantages of chipboard. It does not have defects Can be used for sound insulation. It is cheaper than wood Disadvantages of chipboard. It is not a strong material. Difficult to make wood joints When discarded can be harmful to the environment

15. Medium density fibreboard M.D.F is made by mixing wood fibres with resin. The mixture is pressed under heat and pressure to form a sheet

16. Advantages of MDF. It is cheaper than pure wood. It has a smooth surface Available in large sheets Disadvantages of chipboard. It is easily damaged by water. Generates dust when working. Not strong material
