What are some objects/ symbols that you know that represent meaning?

Symbolic Codes Include the language, dress or actions of characters, or iconic symbols that are easily understood. Symbolic codes in media include objects, setting, color, costume, body language

object Objects can convey meaning Example: a red rose may be used symbolically to convey romance a black clothing symbolizes grief if attending a wake

setting Shows time and place Example: a cemetery is used in a segment during Halloween special Use of time of sunset to represent that time has ended

Body language Emotion and movement Example: a clenched fist represents anger Walking out shows frustration

color Suggests a mood certain colors represent sadness, anger, love, happiness, etc.

costume Clothing, hair & make-up Example: color and design of bahag and tapis show identity among tribes Outfit also represents generations/age

Take a walk and look for an inspiration. Apply the symbolic code by taking one (1) photo within the school premises. Be ready with your elaboration on the meaning of your work.
