First, we will meet at the St. Catharines Public Library. Please bring two forms of government ID so that you can obtain a library card if you wish. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce you to a different form of information management, to get a closer look at what the library has to offer,and look more closely at how the library can guide you in a job search.
Introduction of Librarian. Librarian discusses his/ her role at the library.
Tour of the ground floor of the library. Aspects discussed: library hours, how to get a library card, what is located on the first floor, how to access computers etc..
Detailed tour of online employment searching help offered through the library. Librarian will go over various websites, how they work and how clients can access them. Websites and information attached and will be provided by the library to the clients on the day of the tour.
Tour of the upper floor of the library. What collections are upstairs, how they can be useful to clients etc.
You are given time to explore the library. You are encouraged to use the time to do some job searching, to obtain a library card, rent books, read newspapers etc.
Clients meet back together in the lobby of the library. Clients have an opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the library and the resources offered
