Why teaching Local language in Classroom is relevant?

Cultural transmission -Local language often carry stories, traditions, and values native to a community’s identity.In essence, the idea of cultural transmission details the process by which language is passed down from one generation to the next. Ex. Folklore and Storytelling

Personal Identity Students who learn their local language often experience a strongder sense of belonging and pride in their cultural identity, fostering self-esteem and confidence .

Building National Identity -In diverse nations, promoting local languages fosters a sense of national unity and inclusivity. It recognizes and celebrates the rich linguistic tapestry of a country.

Communication and Understanding - When people speak the same language, communication becomes smoother, leading to better understanding and collaboration. This is especially important in education, where clear communication is essential for effective learning.

Developing Cognitive Flexibility and Self-Expression Learning a local language can also enhance cognitive flexibility and self-expression. It challenges individuals to think in new ways, develop new communication strategies, and express themselves in a different linguistic context.
