Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was a spiritual leader and yoga guru who was born in 1918 in Jabalpur, India. He studied physics at Allahabad University before meeting his own spiritual teacher, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, in 1941. After several years of study with his guru, Maharishi left to share his teachings with the world.
In 1955, Maharishi founded the Spiritual Regeneration Movement, which later became the Transcendental Meditation movement. His teachings emphasized the importance of meditation and inner peace as a means of achieving physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Maharishi is perhaps best known for developing the Transcendental Meditation technique, which is a simple, natural, and effortless meditation practice that can be practiced by anyone regardless of their religious or cultural background.
