Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi was born in Indian Hindu family on 2 October, 1869 in
Porbandar, Gujarat. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
His father name was Karamchand Gandhi, he was served as Diwan of
Porbandar, Rajkot and Zamindari. Gandhi’s mother name was Putlibai
who was from Pranami Vaishnava Hindu family. Mahatma Gandhi at
the age of 9 he studied in Porbandar and he was an average student,
won some prizes but was a shy student with no interest in game. At the
age of 11 he went to high school Rajkot, while at high school Gandhi’s
elder brother introduced him to a Muslim friend named Sheikh Mehtab
was older in age taller and encouraged to eat meat to gain height. In
May 1883, in the age of 13 years he got married to 14 years old
Kasturba Makhanji Kapadia, short name is “Kasturba” which was
arranged marriage and they had four sons who were Harilal, Manilal,
Mahatma Gandhi
Ramdas and Devdas.Harishchandra had a great impression on Gandhi in
his childhood.
After, study Gandhi went to England for law education. His time in
England in English culture including dancing lesson. He could not praise
the vegetarian food offered by his landlady and maximum time he feel
hungry until he found one of London’s few vegetarian restaurant
.Gandhi had a friendly relationship with the president of London
vegetarian society. After returning back he started the practice of law in
Mumbai. Mahatma Gandhi was the follower of truth and non-violence.
In April 1893, Gandhi aged 23, he went to South Africa to be the lawyer
for Abdullah’s cousin, and he spend 21 years in South Africa where he
developed his political, truth, force, rules and moral values. But at
South Africa in 1914 Gandhi was thrown out from local transport
because of his black dark skin tone sitting with a white man and they
want all white tone men in local transport. Then they decided to

religion. Mahatma Gandhi returned back to India in July 1915 and
joined Indian National Congress and speak out against Britishers
because Britishers want to rule India and said to Indians that not to
collect and sold out the salts and on 12 March Gandhi gone to
Sabarmati with 78 followers on 241 miles to town of Dandi of Arabian
sea to give salt and after when Gandhi gone to sea he pick up a lump of
natural salt from the mud and then the Britishers were defeated.
Gandhi took leadership of congress in 1920 and start speak out
demands until on 26 January 1930, the Indian National Congress
declared the Independence of India. The Britishers didn’t understand
the declaration. Gandhi first measure achievement came in 1917 with
the Champaran movement in Bihar. The Champaran movement stand
local farmers and people against their largely British landlords. The
farmers were forced to grow crops to and to sell the crops at a fixed

price and not to eat themselves. Following an achievement of non-
violent challenge and then Gandhi took the management by surprise
and won allowance power. In April 1918, during World War 1 and the
ruler invited Gandhi to a war conference in Delhi. Gandhi agreed to
encourage the Indians for the war effort. In comparison of Zulu war of
1906 and explosion of World War 1 in 1914 and when the world war
broke out Gandhi was on high seas. In 1918, Kheda was hit by floods
and the farmers demanded to get rid of taxes. In Kheda Vallabhbhai
Patel represented the farmers in dialogue with the British, who
suspended taxes collection. In 1919 the World War was over Gandhi
aged 49 he tried to find political co-operation from Muslims to fight
against British by supporting Ottoman Empire that had been defeated
in World War and said to British that Hindu and Muslim were common
in British India and Gandhi had already supported British by adding

Indian soldiers to fight against Europe on the British side but by helping
Britishers also they disappoint Gandhi that they had promised and then
the Gandhi want to take revenge and started Khilafat movement.
Khilafat movement was started in 1919 to 1922 and the main purpose
was to put extra burden on Britishers to establish Khalifa post of
Turkish and Mahatma Gandhi supported Khilafat Movement and
returned his Kaiser-e-Hind medal to the British. By the end of 1922 the
Khilafat Movement had ended. Gandhi started his non-violent and non-
co-operation platform to include the Swadeshi policy the boycott the
foreign made goods, specially British goods. Gandhi aged 62 years and
made a plan to destroy all the rules of Britishers and begin the self
rules by Indians. The three round table conferences of 1930 organized
by the British Government and Indian National Congress was
participant to discuss constitutional reforms in India these started in
November 1930 and ended 1932 and three round table conferences
were their which was attended by Ambedkar, Tej Bahadur Sapru and
Mahatma Gandhi and M.K Gandhi. Then the partition had done and the
reason behind it was India won Independence in August 1947 by
national struggle in three decades and the partition was first proposed
by Indian Muslims and would be the only way to ensure safe and secure
region .At 5:17pm on 30 January1948 in the compound of Birla house a
large mission in New Delhi Nathuram Vinayak Godse who shot Gandhi
in the chest three times due to Godse believed Gandhi to have
favoured the political demands of India’s Muslim during partion of
India. Before ,his death Gandhi was constantly saying the name of rama
and say something like “If I were to be shot in the chest and died with
the words ram on my lips , only then would I be a true Mahatma”
shortly before his death.
