4. UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUE BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND CONTEXT since the beginning of time, the disabled citizens worldwide have been judged, mistreated and looked down upon. STATISTICS Only 36% of people with disabilities in India were employed. Intellectual disability affects about 1% of the population, and of those about 85% have mild intellectual disability. 80–90% of working-age people with disabilities are unemployed At all India level, 54.52% of the disabled persons are literates
