INVESTIGATION All clinically suspected malaria cases require laboratory examination and confirmation . History collection. Physical examination. Malaria parasite test.( M.P) The peripheral smear. Bone marrow smear. CBC,TC,DC

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS Fever Chills Sweats Headache Body aches Fatigue Vomiting Diarrhoea General malaise

EVOLUTION OF MALARIA DIAGNOSIS TECHNIQUES Malaria diagnosis is typically done through a blood test to detect the presence of the malaria parasite . Rapid diagnosis tests are commonly used in areas with limited access to laboratory facilities . Molecular techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) can provide accurate identification of the malaria parasite species .

TREATMENT PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM INFECTION Acquired in CQ – sensitive areas. Chloroquine alone Acquired in CQ – resistant areas. Quinine + tetracycline Quinine + sulfadoxine / pyrimethamine.
