Thank You
Sincerely,
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my ever-
supportive Father Mr. Jundriel Ayocan, for his support in
this journey and their contribution to making this possible.
The strength and constant support you have given me has
been my inspiration. From the very beginning, you taught
me to work hard, never give up, and always be kind – values
that have helped guide me throughout this process. Your
sacrifices and commitment to my success are
immeasurable.

To my beloved partner, Jhonrey Lagrimas, you are my
backbone, and I am deeply grateful to you. Your selflessness
and encouragement have created in me the ability to face
every difficulty along the way. You are the one who gives
me strength, listens to me, and loves me more than words
can express. I struggle to find a way to express how much
you mean to me.

I would also like to thank my entire family for their support
throughout this process. The support they gave me during
times of uncertainty strengthened me. In good times and
bad, they have stood by me and have been a source of
strength in ways I could never have imagined.

Finally, I am grateful and praise the Almighty Lord for His
help in this endeavor. It has been a roller coaster ride, but
God has been faithful in bringing me to this part of the
journey. I will always be grateful that He has been there for
me.
Mariel

Understanding the self is a
lifelong journey because we
are constantly evolving. Our
experiences, relationships, and
perspectives shape us in
profound ways, meaning that
who we are today is not who
we will be tomorrow.
Embracing this continuous
change is key to navigating life
with authenticity and purpose.
INTRODUCTION

REFLECTION
on my first day of class in
Understanding The Self
I may experience a
significant shift in my
perspective as I delve
deeper into the concepts of
self-awareness and identity.
The initial discussions have
already challenged some of
my preconceived notions,
and I anticipate that this
course will lead to a more
nuanced and complex
understanding of who I am.

Sociological
perpective of
the self

The self is born of society the self is is
inseparable from society and bound up with
communication, it builds on social experiences this is
largely a matter of taking the role of other with
increasing sophistications boardening out from
significant others to greater complexity. -George Mead

Stages in Meads theory on the
development of self
1. Preparatory satge :
Children mimic/ imitate
others
2.Play stage: Children pretend
to play the role of a
particular or a significant
other.
3.Game Stage: Children plays
organized games.

All the world is a stage and

their exist and their
entrances and one men in
his times plays many part
William
shakespeare

The self is a social
Contruction
1. Front Stage: People play
different roles
throughout their daily
lives.
2.Back Stage: They are
free of the expectations
and norms that dictates
from front stage
behaviour.

Charles Cooley Charles cooley was George
Meads collegues
The looking-glass self refers
to the notion that the self
develop through our
perception of others
evaluation and appraisal of
us.

People routinely behave
like actors on the stage
everyday social life
became theatrical, there
are roles, scripts and
