ABSTRACT   Education and spirituality are fundamental requirements of human development , most essential for holistic development. Education focusing on intellectual and skill development on the other hand spirituality focuses on inner values , emotional balance and ethical consigns. The study helps to understand the relationship between education and spirituality and its role in cultivating values among individuals and society. Compassion, integrity, mindfulness, and self-awareness enhance practices make personal and moral development. The role of teacher in creation of spiritual based learning environment for holistic development. Key elements: Education Spirituality, interrelation, challenges, Holistic Development.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY To understand the relationship between education and spirituality. To Examining the meanings, significance, and interconnections of education and spirituality. To identify the role of spirituality in education . To examine the impact of spirituality on learner . To discuss the role of teachers in promoting spirituality in education.   INTRODUCTION Education and spirituality are two fundamental aspects of human development. Education is merely focuses on cognitive development, enhancing the knowledge , skill needed for personal and societal advancement. On the other hand, Spirituality is exploration of purpose , meaning , and connection beyond the material realm. Understanding the need and interrelationship between these elements are essential for holistic development and well-being.

MEANING AND DEFINITION OF EDUCATION Education a process of learning , acquiring knowledge, skills, values , beliefs , and habits . By inculcating different methods, approaches and techniques for intellectual and moral development among individuals. Education is the way to find out the way or path to progress, growth and prosperity. According to Mahatma Gandhi “Education mean all-round drawing out of the best in man-body, mind and spirit. According to Swami Vivekananda “Education is the manifestation of device perfection already existing in man”.

MEANING AND DEFINITION OF SPIRITUALITY Spirituality in education means more or less deep connection between learners , educator and the subject in connection with honest , vital and vibrant to nourishing classroom to flourish globally in Humanities and Sciences , politics , medicine, engineering. *It is an ability of the heart to feel for others and sense of collective humanity. *Joins us at the root , allow us to rise above individuality , selfishness . *With growth spirituality can sense the presence of God .

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EDUCATION AND SPIRITUALITY The intersection of education and spirituality aims to fostering comprehensive human development. Education equips individuals with cognitive tools and critical thinking abilities, spirituality nurtures inner qualities and ethical frameworks. Our Ancient education is an integrated with religious teaching and spiritual practices in the educational systems. The fundamental goals of education and spirituality is to inculcate wisdom , develop ethical behaviour and foster personal growth .

SUPPORTERS OF SPIRITUAL EDUCATION 1. Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan says that Inculcating Moral education in the general studies that will be the first step of spiritual education. 2. Kothari Commission by supporting the ideal of “ Hindi ” has suggested need of relating science and spiritual education with each other. 3. The national education policy of 1986, suggested that a separate chapter on value education is required to study of moral values to become the part of spirituality. 4. During 1970’s and 80’s there is a greater importance of value education and value education incorporation of spiritual education among the learners 5. Our constitution chapter also talk with carrying out cultural and social heritage in which the study of spiritualism is inevitable.

Role of Teacher in spiritual development Many educators believe that spiritualty play a vital role in education to enhance the character formation , bringing togetherness improve the personality and kindness . Spirituality is a way to heal the soul with power of determination , concentration and meditation . It leads to open communication , mutual respect , and cooperation , creating a learning environment where students and adults work towards mutual goals . As per Indian philosophy in India three are three ways of develop spirituality among the peoples such as, Bhakti yoga, karma yoga and Janna yoga . Today our youths following their way for unity in diversity , non-discrimination among peoples . Spirituality develops many qualities like love, honesty, patience , tolerance of others, sense of detachment , faith , and hope among the person.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS AND SPIRITUAL PRINCIPALS . Spiritual practice considered as a component of moral education. Improve human intelligence level Enhances better understanding in learning as well as behaviour . Helps to strengthen clear vision to achieve goal and ethical values. Teacher develops caring environment which inspires students. Educational goals aligned with spiritual principles for holistic development. Some principle are Context Experience Reflection . IMPLEMENTING THE SPIRITUAL GOALS IN EDUCATION . Curriculum design: modify the curriculum consisting the values based on the reasoning , promoting ethical values and self-awareness . Experiential learning: make student community service oriented and application of real world application which reinforce the moral development . Reflective practices: provide the opportunity for regular reflection , meditation , helping nature and integrated learning experiences.
