1 . The median cubital vein (median basilic vein, antecubital vein, cubital vein) is a branch of the cephalic vein that lies mostly within the cubital fossa .
COURSE Branch of a cephalic vein, at the junction of the proximal quarter and distal three quarter of the forearm. It travels across the cubital fossa , receiving branches from the deep veins of the forearm before uniting with basilic vein. 6
USES OF MEDIAL CUBITAL VEIN It is the preferred vein for the venipuncture in the H – Shaped pattern. It is typically larger, closer to the surface, better anchored and more stationary than other. It is the easiest and least painfu l to puncture and the least likely to bruise. 7
