MENSTRUAL CYCLE Menstrual cycle is defined as cyclic events that take place in in a rhythmic fashion during the reproductive periods of a womens life ‘ Starts at age of 12 to 15 years , which marks onset of puberty . Commencement of menstrual cycle is called MENARCHE . It ceases at the age og 45 to 50 years .permanent ceassation of menstrual cycle is known as MENOPAUSE Duration of menstrual cycle :28 days ( usually between 20 to 40 days)

5. OVARIAN CHANGES TWO PHASES OCCURS: FOLLICULAR PHASE (day 1 to 14 ) OVULATION (day 14) LUTEAL PHASE (day 14 to 28)

6. FOLLICULAR PHASE Called so bcz ovary contain follicles that release in month . Pituitary hormone release FSH Stimulate follicle to develop and release estrogen

7. OVULATION Rising of estrogen hormone triggers LH surge LH surge triggers ovulation

8. LUTEAL PHASE The ruptured follicle turns into corpus luteum . It release progesterone along with small amount of estrogen

9. UTERINE CHANGES MENSTRUAL PHASE (DAY 1 TO 5 ) PROLIFERATIVE PHASE (DAY 6 TO 14 ) SECRETORY PHASE (DAY 14 TO 28 )
