Slide Content
Mind mapping is a powerful
technique to help you visually
develop and organize ideas and
information.
A diagram for representing tasks,
words, concepts, or items linked to
and arranged around a central
concept or subject using a non-
linear graphical layout that allows
the user to build an intuitive
framework around a central
concept.
WHAT IS
MIND
MAPPING?
They help users tounderstand
concepts by breaking them down
into their component parts. The
technique is used to develop new
ideas, or to break down and better
understand existing information
It uses a two dimensional
structureinstead of list format or
conventional notes
Tony Buzan (author & educational
consultant)is the inventor of Mind
Mapping
WHAT IS
MIND
MAPPING?
The Essential Characteristics of Mind Mapping
1.The main idea, subject or focus is crystallized
in a central image.
2.The main themes radiate from the central
image as 'branches’.
3.The branches comprise a key image or key
word drawn or printed on its associated line.
4.Topics of lesser importance are represented
as 'twigs' of the relevant branch.
5.The branches form a connected nodal
structure.
How to use mind map
effectively?
Use Single Words or
Uncomplicated Phrases.
Use Color to Separate Different
Ideas.
Use Symbols and Images-
“A picture is worth a thousand
words”
Using Cross-Linkages
Mind mapping
software
