Cambodian Music Cambodia - is one of the most beautiful countries in Southeast Asia. It was located at the center of the former Khmer kingdom of Angkor, - a great empire that dominated Southeast Asia for 600 years. Its music flourished in both village and court setting.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC Pinpeat ensemble - is an orchestra that accompanies the different royal activities of the courts and temples in Cambodia like - This has similarities with the Thai Piphat ensemble which consists of nine to ten musical instruments. Its musical expression emphasizes gong ensembles, drum ensembles and free- reed mouth organs with gourd wind chests.

Pinpeat Ensemble Samphor - This is a double- headed drum played by using hands . Roneat - This is a xylophones. Ching - This is a pair of finger cymbals. Skor thom - This is a pair of contrasting drums played by using wooden beaters. Kong vong toch - This is a set of gongs in circular dormation. Chamrieng - These are the vocals.

Myanmar music Myanmar - was known as Burma until 1989. Its music is melodious, generally without harmony and is usually in comon time signature of 4/4 (na-yi-se), 2/4 (wa-let- se), or 8/16 ( wa-let-a-myan).

Burmese classical music ensembles are divided into:

Outdoor ensembles Sidaw - also known as sidawgyi - is an outdoor ensembles in royal courts. It is usually performed in a royal ploughing ceremony, an ancient royal rite held in many Asian countries to mark the traditional start of the rice- growing season. Sidaw also plays in festivals.

Indoor ensembles Saung - is an indoor form composed of a female singer accompanied by a traditional ensemble.

Instrumental music There are two kinds of ensemble in Myanmar Sidaw Ensemble Instruments. Saung Ensemble Instruments

Sidaw ensembles instruments Gandama - This is a double - headed drum plaed by using hands. Si - This is a bell. Wa - This is a clapper. Sidaw - These are two big drums hung side by side on a beam. These drums are known as the royal drum.

Saung ensembles instruments Saung - This is an arched harp. This is known as the national musical instruments of Myanmar. Pattala - This is a xylophone. This is tuned similar to the diatonic scale. Mi gyaung - This is a crocodile-shaped fretted, plucked zither with strings. Palwei - This is a flute. Tayaw - This is a fiddle. Hnyin - This is a small mouth organ.
