The autobiographical graphic novel Fun Home, by Alison Bechdel presents
characters evolving to the reader in an intimate way. She reveals within her novel
the high cost of claiming to be gay or lesbian within America. Instead of reading the
author s recollection of her experiences, her graphic novel connects the reader within
the experience as the observer. This allows the reader to look at both the personality
of the novelist and the developmental impacts that have shaped her. Fun Home, is a
distinctively persuasive novel that is entangled within the lives of Alison s family.
While presenting to the reader the explanations of Bruce s death, Alison endeavors to
adjust to the reality of her father s death by remembering family life at the Fun House.
Alison introduces the mourning of her father to the readers as the central event of
the story in the first chapter. She proclaims her father s demise by saying; His
death was quite possibly his consummate artifice, his masterstroke. In essence she
is broadcasting Bruce Bechdel death as a clever move, while trying to acclimate to

I chose Smoking behavior and motivational flexibility in light and heavy
smokers, (Darlow Lobel 2012) because I have never understood why people chose
to smoke. You know that smoking is bad for your health when you start smoking
and you know it is hard to quit so why do people even start smoking in the first
place? This article captured my interest because I work with a lot of people that
smoke and have been smoking for years and I always wondered what their
motivation was to smoke. I have also always wondered if there were certain triggers
that caused them to, crave, a cigarette. I think learning why people smoke and what
dictates when they do it would be informational.

Lgbt Diversity And The Lgbt Community
In today s society the issues and rights of the LGBT community are very prominent
and is a major topic of discussion within politics. LGBT which stands for (Lesbians,
Gays, Bisexual, and Trans) encompasses all of those who fall under those categories
and those who support the community as well. With the legalization of gaymarriage in
all 50 states by the U.S Supreme Court the LGBTcommunity is making milestones
when it comes to having the same rights as heterosexual couples. With its growing
presence in the community it is essential to understand their culture and respect the
diversity of the group.
While working at BIC, a ware house located in Charlotte, nc, I met a diverse group
of individuals but the bulk of my coworkers were members of the LGBT
community. This was different for me because the high school I attended and my
previous college I didn t interact directly with anybody from that community. The
closest I had come to this was being in a modeling organization with gay males.
The women practiced separately so even then my contact was very limited. The
people I worked with at BIC quickly became good friends of mine despite are
different sexual orientations, this lead them to extend an invite to a nightclub
called The Scorpio. In the beginning i was hesitant to go because I had never been

Trasformations By Anne Sexton
Anne Sexton was an American poet, known for her highly intimate and sometimes
even controversial writing style. She started writing poetry in 1952 after being
advised to do so by her psychiatrist, whom she has been meeting to address her
recessing mental health. In one of the collections, called Trasformations, Sexton re
tells Grimm s Fairy Tales in her own unique confessional style, often using the

Three weeks ago I visited the Art Institute of Chicago. It was established in 1879
and has since expanded its collection to approximately three hundred thousand
works. Attracting over one and a half million visitors annually, it is one of the
largest art museums in the United States. The reason I chose this site is that I read
that it displayed Georges Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande
Jatte, and I wanted to see it in person because it is so iconic. While at the Art Institute
of Chicago, I spent most of my time in The Elizabeth Hammond Stickney Gallery .
There were three pieces in this gallery: Saint Michael and the Devil, The Birth of
Saint John the Baptist, and Saint George Killing the Dragon. Each piece was made in
the Renaissanceperiod in Europe in the fifteenth to sixteenth centuries. I believe the
main reason these pieces are grouped together is that they all contain a depiction of
a saint. Another reason for this arrangement is that all these paintings all represent

time he was ten years old.Zheng He was chosen by the emperor of china to go on a
journey called the Western Ocean which began around 1405 which later was known
as his first voyage. He left China with 27,800 men and 62 ships. Zheng He s vessels
visited Siam now Thailand, the island of Java, Malacca now Melaka, and Champa
now the southern part of Vietnam. Then through the Indian Ocean to Calicut now
Kozhikode on the Malabar Coast of India and Ceylon which now is Sri Lanka. After
Ceylon he went back the China around 1407.
For his second journey he left in 1408, he went to Calicut again, then he stopped in
Chochin which is Kocki along the cost of the south. However, during his visit in
Chochin King Alogonakkara of Ceylon attached Zhang s troops, but in the end he
defeated Alagonakkara s troops. After Zheng s troops beat Alagonakkara s troops,
they took the king of Nanjing as a prisoner of war on his return to China which was
in 1409 only one year after he left. After that expedition he went on another journey
october later that year. On his third expedition in October 1409 this time he gone
further than he ever had, he sailed to Samundra on the northern tip of Sumatra. After
he got there he collected some goods, and gotten lots of gold. He returned back to
China in 1411 from his longest and most successful expedition yet.

the main ports of Asia like what now is Malaysia, Thailand, North Korea, and Iran.
