Acknowledgments Acknowledgments I’m deeply grateful to Ma’am Angga for her
patience, kindness, and guidance that
inspired me to grow and understand myself
better.
Thank you to my classmates for the support,
laughter, and teamwork we shared.
lastly Understanding the Self helped me
reflect, accept, and become more confident
in who I am.

Introduction about the subject Understanding the self is an important part of knowing who
we are and how we relate to the world around us. It is more
than just identifying our name or physical appearance it
involves exploring our thoughts, feelings, values, and beliefs.
Through the guidance of Ma'am Angga, this subject helps us
reflect on our identity, our connection with others, and our
purpose in life. By learning different philosophical
perspectives, we discover that the "self" can be seen in many
ways as the soul, the mind, our memories, or even our
relationships with others. This journey of self-understanding
allows us to grow, make better decisions, and become more
aware of who we truly are.

Lesson 1
overview PHILOSOPHICAL PERSPECTIVE OF
THE SELF
PHILOSOPHICAL PERSPECTIVE OF
THE SELF
In this lesson, I learned that philosophy helps us
understand who we really are. Different
philosophers have their own ideas about the self
some say it’s the soul, others say it’s the mind,
our actions, or even our memories. By studying
their views, I realized that knowing oneself is
important in finding purpose and meaning in life.

Insights 1Insights 1 Insights 1Insights 1 I learned that the self is not just about what we
see on the outside but also how we think, feel, and
act. The ideas of Socrates, Descartes, and Hume
made me see that self-understanding takes
reflection and growth. I also realized that change is
part of who we are, and that discovering the self is
a lifelong journey.

lesson 2 overview lesson 2 overview Material SelfMaterial Self
This lesson discusses the Material Self, which refers to the physical and
tangible things that reflect who we are — including our body, clothes,
immediate family, and home. These elements shape our identity and
influence how we think, feel, and behave.
Our body is the most personal part of the material self, while our clothes
and possessions serve as forms of self-expression. Our family and home
give us a sense of belonging and identity. However, when people give too
much importance to material possessions, materialism can develop and
may lead to problems like Compulsive Buying Disorder (CBD).
Overall, the lesson reminds us that while our possessions and
surroundings help define us, our true worth lies beyond material things.

Insights Insights 22 This lesson showed me that the self is not formed in
isolation, but through constant interaction with
society. Mead's stages helped me understand how we
grow into our social roles. Cooley made me aware of
how much my self-image depends on others'
perceptions. Goffman's view reminded me that we
often "perform" based on the setting we're in. Overall,
it taught me that identity is both personal and social.

UNDERSTANDING INTIMACY, PASSION, AND
COMMITMENT SHOWS THAT RELATIONSHIPS CHANGE
OVER TIME. LASTING LOVE NEEDS MORE THAN
PASSION—IT REQUIRES EMOTIONAL CLOSENESS AND
COMMITMENT. THIS HELPS ME SEE THAT MEANINGFUL
CONNECTIONS GROW THROUGH EFFORT,
COMMUNICATION, AND TRUST. THIS BALANCE IS
IMPORTANT FOR HEALTHY PERSONAL AND
PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS.Lesson 3 overview Lesson 3 overview
Sternberg's Triangular Theory of LoveSternberg's Triangular Theory of Love

UNDERSTANDING THESE COMPONENTS ALLOWS ME TO SEE
THAT RELATIONSHIPS EVOLVE AND SHIFT OVER TIME. A
HEALTHY AND LASTING RELATIONSHIP DOESN'T RELY ON
PASSION ALONE; IT REQUIRES EMOTIONAL INTIMACY AND
COMMITMENT TO GROW STRONGER. THIS FRAMEWORK
HELPS ME REFLECT ON HOW MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS
ARE BUILT-NOT JUST THROUGH FEELINGS, BUT THROUGH
CONSCIOUS EFFORT AND SHARED EXPERIENCES. FOR MY
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, THIS INSIGHT
EMPHASIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF BALANCE,
COMMUNICATION, AND MUTUAL TRUST IN ANY FORM OF
RELATIONSHIP, WHETHER PERSONAL, SOCIAL, OR
PROFESSIONAL.

Lesson 4 overview Lesson 4 overview How I WorkHow I Work
In this part of the lesson, I learned about the
different aspects that make up a person’s
identity — gender identity, gender expression,
biological sex, and sexual orientation. Each one is
unique but connected, helping me understand
that identity is more than just being male or
female.

I realized that gender is not just about
appearance or biology; it’s also about how we see
and express ourselves. Everyone experiences
their identity differently, and that’s what makes
each person special. Understanding these
concepts helped me become more respectful and
open-minded toward others’ identities and
choices.

Conclusion about the Subject Conclusion about the Subject
Understanding the self is essential for personal growth
and meaningful relationships. By exploring our
emotions, values, and behaviors, we become more self-
aware and better equipped to connect with others.
This self-knowledge fosters confidence, improves
decision-making, and helps us navigate life’s
challenges with clarity and purpose. Ultimately,
understanding the self is the foundation for living a
balanced and fulfilling life.

Overall reflection Overall reflection
This lesson has helped me understand the importance of knowing
myself deeply my feelings, thoughts, and values—and how this self-
awareness shapes my relationships and decisions. I realize that
building strong connections requires effort, balance, and trust, not
just emotions. Understanding the self is a continuous journey that
strengthens my personal and professional life, guiding me to grow
into a better version of myself.thankyou, Ma’am Shella, for guiding
us through this valuable learning experience and helping us reflect
on what truly matters in understanding ourselves and others.

Thank youThank you
