Slide Content

SMART School Innovation “ Interactive whiteboards are the future of educational strategies, and without proper adoption of these and other technology tools, teachers are doomed to become dinosaurs in their practices” ( Wolpert , Gawron ).

My Plan To introduce a grassroots approach technology initiative that will bring more interactive technology into classrooms and educate teachers on how to implement effective lessons and increase student achievement http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCfmJCSAG70&feature= related

My School Overview K-4 Elementary School 450 students 25 teachers 4 paraprofessionals

Vision E ducational excellence today for a changing tomorrow .

Needs Assessment Needs assessment based on SMART Board technology needs and technology that is presently in the classroom for teacher utilization and lesson implementation Needs assessment was emailed to teachers in the school Needs survey link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ WJLKT5P

Raking Through the Data The teachers at the school agree that there is a need for more technology They recognize that technology is the way of the present, and a way to motivate and engage students SMART Boards are the most requested technology that teachers would like in their classrooms They believe that student achievement would increase with an proper implementation of technology within lessons

Needs Analysis Question1: Technology that teachers want

Needs Analysis Question 3: T/F- student achievement increases with more technology use

Implementation Going grassroots- try to have teachers that are excited about technology and are leaders in the school advocate for the innovation Teachers would receive professional development AND be given time to explore the technology on their own and with their grade levels Grade-level teams would create lessons and assessments that engage students and promote guided development

Innovation Assessment The school would become the pilot program for all others in the district Students would be measured on their growth and progress throughout the year with regards to the DCAS tests EOY data would be analyzed and compared to previous years and other school in the district
