What is solar energy? Solar energy is the energy obtained by capturing heat and light from the Sun. Like air and water the sun is one the earth’s life support system, providing light and heat. Solar energy is nothing but it is converted light energy into usable energy such as electricity. Solar Energy is energy (light or heat) that comes from the sun.
Why do we need solar energy? Approximately 80% of the total amount of energy used globally each year comes from fossil fuels like Petroleum, Natural Gas and Coal. The huge consumption of fossil fuels has caused many damages to the environment. To reduce the damages, we need to concentrate on renewable energy resources, and solar energy is the good option. The most advantage of solar energy is that this is distributed over a wide graphical area. Average over the entire earth = 164 watts per square meter a 24 hour day so, the entire planet receives 84 TW watts of power.
History of solar energy? Humans have used solar energy since the 7 th century B.C. But the first solar device to produce electricity was installed in 1883 by Charles fritsz . In 1895 Aubrey Eneas is the first solar energy company invented.
Classifications of solar energy?
What are Active solar energy? Active solar energy
The active solar energy employs mechanical or electrical equipment for functioning and increase system.
As an example water pumps are used to circulate water through the active solar energy water heating system.
Some application of active solar energy which can be very helpful to us
Materials used in solar energy system Silicon
Lithium graphite
Graphite
Graphite-oxide
Cadmium telluride
Copper indium gallium di-selenide
Copper indium di-selenide
Phosphorus boron
Titanium oxide etc..
Importance of solar energy? Cause it’s a clean, renewable energy source that can help reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. It can also be used for heating water and other purposes. Solar energy is a clean, renewable energy source that doesn’t emit greenhouse gases
It can help reduce pollution levels.
Advantages and disadvantages of solar energy..? Advantages :- Financial helps are available from the government.
Solar energy is clean and renewable. Also energy is sustainable and helping the protect our environment. Disadvantages:- The initial cost is high.
For installation requires large area.
It is very difficult to maintain.
Applications of solar energy Charging electronic devices Power source to outdoor devices Solar powered vehicles Supply power to house Satellites etc.
