KIEV B. ALMIRA Subject Teacher INTERVENTION LEARNING CAMP DAY 2

Dear Lord and Father of all, Thank you for today. Thank you for ways in which you provide for us all. For Your protection and love we thank you. Help us to focus our hearts and minds now on what we are about to learn. Inspire us by Your Holy Spirit as we listen and write. Guide us by your eternal light as we discover more about the world around us. We ask all this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Lesson 4 – Speaking and Listening

L O O K !

What do these photos show? Do you use coconut oil? What can you use it for? What steps in the process can you see here? What will they do with the oil? What other uses do coconuts have?

The Tree of Life

Comprehension Check! Did you hear about some things you can use the coconut for? What name do we give the coconut tree in the Philippines? Why do we give it this name? Why is the coconut industry important in the Philippines?

Focus Words:

Task: List the uses of coconuts in the Philippines. (by pair)

Task: Listen to the teacher describing the process on how to make a coconut oil and put the picture into correct order by numbering them.

Lesson 5 – Introduce Reading Text

Focus Words:

Consonant blends from the focus word list: ‘ ph ’, ‘ wh ’. - ‘ ph ’ in Philippines is pronounced like ‘f ’. - ‘ wh ’ – Sometimes, ‘ wh ’ makes the sound ‘h’, so the ‘w’ is silent.

Let’s do the FLASH CARDS!

Lesson 6 – Comprehension and Consolidation

Let us learn about SYLLABLES!

COMPREHENSION EXERCISE: Turn your handbook on page 21 and answer the following questions.

On page 23 of your handbook, find the words and circle them in the puzzle with a partner
