Natural Vegetation and Wildlife By – Elsie Julian Sundur
India has rich natural vegetation and wildlife, placing it among the world's 12 mega-biodiversity countries with over 47,000 plant species and 90,000 animal species Talk about India We are everywhere, dude!
How are we so diverse? The diversity is shaped by factors like climate, relief, and soil. Factors influencing vegetation: Variations in land, soil, temperature, altitude, and precipitation influence the types of vegetation that grow in an area.
Describe our types and kinds Natural Vegetation

Describe our types and kinds Wildlife Fauna: Refers to the animal life of a particular region. India is home to about 90,000 animal species.
Animal diversity: Includes a rich variety of mammals, birds (13% of the world's species), fish (12% of the world's stock), and amphibians and reptiles (5-8% of the world's stock). Examples of animals: India is home to elephants, one-horned rhinoceroses, tigers, lions, wild asses, and various species of deer.
What are you doing to conserve us?
Ecosystems: Forests are the basis of ecosystems, which are complex networks where organisms interact with their physical environment. Human activities can cause ecological imbalance if resources are overused.
Government initiatives: The government has established 103 national parks, 535 wildlife sanctuaries, and 18 biosphere reserves to protect wildlife. Conservation projects: Projects have been initiated to protect specific species, such as Project Tiger, Project Rhino, and Project Great Indian Bustard.
