Digital Redlining @ hypervisible “Redlining is the practice of denying or limiting financial services to certain neighborhoods based on racial or ethnic composition without regard to the residents' qualifications or credit worthiness. The term "redlining" refers to the practice of using a red line on a map to delineate the area where financial institutions would not invest.” Fair Housing Center of Greater Boston # OLCInnovate

Digital Redlining Digital Redlining puts people in a small box, and then uses algorithms to direct these same people into increasingly smaller boxes. Redlining is like an infinite loop of increasingly limited options. T he blend of filtering AND surveillance, leading to ongoing filtering, makes redlining a constant process. * Thanks to Bill Fitzgerald (@ funnymonkey ) for help on this!* @ hypervisible # OLCInnovate
