Name Miss Katty Age 24 years old Allergies Nil Past medical History Dengue fever 5 years ago Current medication Rigevidon 1/1 OD for 21 days each cycle Family history Nil Immunisation History Nil Social History Contruction site supervisor, married , nulliparous, stays with husband, on family planning Drug and alcohol history Smoker, 10 cigarettes per day for the past 5 yrs

What further information do you require from the patient to give appropriate pre-travel advice ?

Details of the travel: location,duration,accommodation type Planned activities Travelling alone/with others? Purpose of the travel Previous travel experience including any illness/safety issues experienced in the previous travelling LMP?

General issues related to pretravel consultation

Patient’s general health and fitness related to travel Accident/injury prevention?insurance ? Personal safety Food and water supply Non-vaccine-preventable disease such as traveller’s diarrhoea Mosquito borne disease such as Dengue Fever (past hx of DF 5 yrs ago) Animal bite First aids Risk involved with alcohol, drugs, sex Venous thromboembolism risk minimization Travel insurance

Food safety Water safety Avoid uncooked /raw vegetables, fruits that cannot be peeled Avoid untreated / unboiled water Advise on place to dine in HAND WASH and hand sanitizer before and after eating ANTIBIOTIC PROPHYLAXIS generally NOT INDICATED

Traveller’s diarrhoea management Dehydration Prevention (Oral dehydration salt) Symptom management including motility agent (loperamide), paracetamol, anti nausea agent when indicated Antibiotic in severe cases (guidelines generally recommend azithromycin or quinolone (ciprofloxacin /norfloxacin)
