OTITIS MEDIA DEFINITION “It is an infection & inflammation of middle ear that most often occur in infant & young children but can occur at any age” OTITIS MEDIA

INCIDENCE Most common in children under 15 yr of age . 40% of children suffer Uncommon in adults. OTITIS MEDIA

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY Due to etiological factor( Bacteria) Serous exudates & edema in middle ear Tympanic membrane rupture Otitis media Pus formation OTITIS MEDIA

MANAGEMENT Surgical management- Myringotomy / Tympanotomy OTITIS MEDIA

MANAGEMENT Nursing Management Administering pain medication as prescribed . Applying a warm compress to the ear Encouraging fluids Monitoring temperature OTITIS MEDIA
