In his history of Bangladesh,  Craig Baxter   gives a general assessment of the relations between both countries: “As united Pakistan, both the countries of Pakistan and Bangladesh had sought independence from India in 1947 because they were concerned about the progress and security of Muslims in a Hindu majority state. As separate countries they continue to share a community of interests in limiting the dominance of India as well as a common Islamic position. ”

Issues between P akistan and bangladesh Bangladesh seeks unconditional and official apology for war atrocities: the 3 million people who died, the roughly 200,000 women who were mercilessly raped by Pakistani soldiers, and the millions who were driven across the border with India to seek shelter in refugee camps there. Source: The Diplomate According to Moonis Ahmar, author of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations – Prospects and Way Forward, Mujib even granted amnesty to those who collaborated with the Pakistan Army. 2. Repatriation of Biharis Biharis (non-Bengali Muslims) who sided with Pakistan during the 1971 war have been living in refugee camps in Bangladesh. While some have been repatriated to Pakistan, a significant number remain, leading to humanitarian and diplomatic concerns. 1. Historical Greivances

Issues between P akistan and bangladesh Given the economic boom and social achievements under Hasina since 2009, Bangladesh can be selective in choosing its partners. In contrast, Pakistan’s economy is in shambles, its social indices are poor, and it is seeking donors. Pakistan cannot match India as a development partner for Bangladesh. Despite some issues, Bangladesh prefers good relations with a growing India over a struggling Pakistan, which has little to offer. India was Bangladesh’s second-largest trade partner in 2022, with bilateral trade reaching $18.2 billion, up from $10.8 billion in 2021. In contrast, Pakistan's exports to Bangladesh were $583.44 million, and imports were $61.94 million in 2020. During the Pakistan cricket tour of Bangladesh, a lawsuit was filed against the Pakistan team for hoisting their national flag during practice.
