•Aim of current study was to compare the
assessment ofthe severity and prognosis
of acute pancreatitis between APACHE II
and HAPS.

4. MATERIALS & METHODS
STUDY DESIGN - Prospective study.
METHOD OF COLLECTION OF DATA
• Source of data – This study is conducted in the Department of General Surgery at
HMCH Bhubaneshwar, over 2 years.
•Sample size – Sample size of 100 patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria will be a part of
this study,
•The clinical study will be through questionnaires and investigation reports.
INCLUSION CRITERIA
All patients admitted to the study setting with acute pancreatitis
between the age group of 18 to 69 years who gave their consent to participate in this study.
EXCLUSION CRITERIA
•Exclusion criteria for current study were; age <18 years or >70 years,
•serum amylase levels less than thrice the upper limit of normal,
•patients with CKD,
•patients with asthma ,type 2 DM & HTN.
