About This Presentation

Noun A word that names a person, place, thing, or idea. e.g. Sachin, Bhavnagar, Laptop, Beauty, Democracy...

Verb A word that expresses action, being or condition. E.g. Teach, Listen, Talk, be, have, do, shall, can, will...

Adjective A word that modifies / adds meaning / describes a noun or a pronoun. E.g. The blue/dark/cloudy/clear sky . • Intelligent student, hard-working teacher, beautiful girl

Adverb A word that modifies / adds meaning / describes a verb, an adjective or another verb. Eg. Copy this out carefully. • He ran fast to win the race. • These shoes are too big. • He ran very fast yet can’t win the race.

Pronoun A word that substitutes for a noun. E.g. He, She, It, We, they...

Preposition A word that shows relationship between its objects and some other word in the sentence. E.g. on the table, under the table, into the well…

Conjunction • A word that joins words, phrases, or clauses. E.g. and, but, either, or, neither nor...

Interjection • A word that shows surprise or sudden feeling. E.g. Oh!, Aaah!, Ouch!, Hurray!, Alas!
