Personal Vs Professional Development Professional : ‘Means of supporting people in the workplace to understand more about the environment in which they work; their role and how they can become more effective. It is an ongoing process of learning that spans an individual’s life Personal: ‘Development of soft skills which can enhance employee’s career prospects and enable them to feel on top of their job. The term personal implies it’s what matters to you. Personal qualities are highly relevant to success at work.

Preferred Learning Styles Most people have 3 preferred learning styles (VAK). People are able to use all 3 but will have a preferred style. Visual: Preference for seen or observed training, incorporating for example, film, pictures, diagrams, demos, hand outs. ‘Show me’ or ‘let me have a look’ Auditory : Learning through listening to spoken explanations and sounds. ‘Tell me’ ‘talk to me about’ Kinaesthetic: Learning through practical experience, touching, doing, practical hands on activity. ‘let me have a go’ Learn through experience.
