Personal Experience Narrative Essay
Crafting a Personal Experience Narrative Essay can be both a challenging and rewarding
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of essay writing but also in the
introspective journey required to delve into one's own experiences and translate them into a
compelling narrative.
Firstly, there's the challenge of selecting a specific experience that is not only personally
significant but also capable of engaging the reader. This process often involves self-reflection
and a careful consideration of moments that have shaped one's identity or worldview. Identifying
the right balance between relatability and uniqueness can be a complex task.
Once the experience is chosen, the task is to articulate it in a way that captivates the reader's
attention from the beginning and maintains their interest throughout. This demands a skillful use
of descriptive language, dialogue, and pacing to create a narrative that flows seamlessly.
Additionally, one must navigate the fine line between self-disclosure and maintaining a sense of
privacy. While the essence of a personal narrative is to share intimate experiences, it's crucial to
strike a balance that allows for vulnerability without sacrificing personal boundaries.
The structural aspect of the essay poses another challenge. Balancing the chronological order of
events with thematic coherence requires careful planning. A well-organized essay ensures that the
reader can follow the narrative without feeling disjointed or confused.
Moreover, the task involves revisiting and revising the work multiple times. Editing is not just
about correcting grammatical errors but refining the narrative to ensure clarity and emotional
resonance. This process often involves a willingness to discard passages that, while personally
significant, may not contribute effectively to the overall impact of the essay.
In conclusion, writing a Personal Experience Narrative Essay involves more than just recounting
events; it requires a blend of introspection, storytelling skill, and a commitment to refining and
polishing the work. It's a journey that challenges the writer to connect with their own experiences
on a deeper level while simultaneously engaging the reader. The difficulty lies not just in the
mechanics of writing, but in the art of translating personal moments into a universally relatable
story.

Portrayal Of Female Character In Sita And Jaya
Portrayal of female character by Devdutt Pattanaik in his book Sita and Jaya
In the Hindu Mythology some women are portrayed as the role model for all the
women. Sita, Savitri, Draupadi, Ahalya and Arundhati are the five women that are
considered to be the role model. The women in the Hindu Indian tradition are asked
to obey their husbands no matter what they feel. This tradition imprints this in the
minds and hearts of the women. If women do not follow this tradition then they will
have to face the problems that their role models portrayed in the Epics have faced.
Those five women are put on the pedestals of pride and honour. Sita and Draupadi
are the main celebrities of Hindu Mythology. Both of them had a Supernatural birth.

She called Duryodhana as the blind son of the blind man infront of everyone. In
order to take revenge he dragged and disrobed Draupadi in front of the whole court.
Sita showed full confidence and trust in her husband Ram and kept waiting for him
to rescue her from Ravana. On the other hand Draupadi decided to be the reason of
the destruction of the clan of the Kauravas. When Ram rescued Sita from the demon
King Ravana he clearly stated that he has saved her only because of the honour of his
family and question were raised on the chastity of Sita. Draupadi faced many
accusations as she was married to five men at the same time. Sita was abounded and
lived alone and also raised her children alone without any support from their father.
Draupadi lived with all her five husbands but unfortunately lost all her sons in the
battle.
Draupadi and Sita are very strong characters and they stood against all the odds of
the society. They faced many challenges in their lives yet they are always criticised
by the people of the society. Sita suffered everything when she was staying in Lanka
as she stood against the demon Ravana and never accepted anything from anyone in
Lanka as she was waiting for her husband Lord Ram to come and rescue her from
Ravana.
Draupadi suffered all alone and nobody helped her when she was being dragged by
Duryodhana to the court. When she was humiliated in front of the court everyone
witnessed this cruel act but no

Transformative and Instrumental Views on Education in...
For a long time socioeconomic status and social class has been seen as a strong
predictor of student achievement. Australia, like many of our fellow first world
nations is very much a you reap what you sow nation, but how can we expect those
whom are disadvantaged to reap without giving them seeds? In the same respect, can
you expect the same results from each individual student in a class to be the same
when each of them has different social makeups, interests, experiences and learning
speeds? The aims of good sociology, and in turn, education is the recognition that
gender, class, race, ethnicity, sexuality and age all make a dramatic difference to how
people access or fail to access, experience or fail to experience the benefits of... Show

Continuing on from Marx s idea of social stratification or division, Max Weber, a
German sociologist proposed that instead of just two groups that society had
progressed into four: the upper class, upper middle class, lower middle class and the
lower class. Christopher Scanlon of Melbourne s La Trobe University believes that
this is the more accurate representation of the current social class system found in
Australia. While not agreeing entirely with Weber, Scanlon does think that the
deprived remain distanced from the supposed higher class, the bridge between the
gap is found in those middle classes which now represents the majority of Australians
(ABC Radio, 2014).
Marx also pioneered the notion of ideology and the role it plays in the maintenance
of social inequalities especially in schooling. Ideology in its simplest form is the
controlling of beliefs by an authority, in this case, those of a higher socioeconomic
status. According to Raewyn Connell et. al., ideology is used for and by ...those in
power to maintain and reinforce their positions (2013, pp. 82). An example of this
reinforcement of control can be seen in Basil Bernstein s Speech Codes Theory.
Bernstein had a great interest in the sociolinguistic characteristics of people and how
it reflected in

The Legal Principles For Negligence And Liability
The purpose of this memo will be to examine and provide an overview of the legal
principles for negligence and liability. Negligence is behaviour or actions that fall
below an expected of care , and liability refers to the responsibility for the injury or
harm1. For behaviour to be found negligent four elements need to be met and
proven: duty of care, standard of care, damages and proximate cause1. This memo
will describe the elements of negligence, liability, including vicarious liability and
occupier s liability, and the concepts of risk management.
Duty of Care Duty of care refers to a person being responsible for the safety of
others if he or she can foresee these people being affected by his or her actions1.
The presence of a relationship and the proximity principle are two elements that
can give rise to a duty of care1. Relationships that give rise to duty of care include
coaches athletes, parents child, chauffeur passengers. The proximity principle, also
referred to as the neighbour principle, refers to the duty a person has to refrain
from conduct that can foreseeably cause injuries to those in one s direct proximity.
In Bain v. Calgary Board of Education, the defendant owed a greater duty of care to
the students since the student s parents signed a waiver authorizing the defendant to
act on behalf of the parent in the reasonable care of the students, who came from a
vocational school for the learning disabled. His standard of care was therefore equal
to that of a

Linguistic Ethnography Of My Family
Linguistic Ethnography of My Family: Maternal Side
My great great grandparents, Carlo and Teresa Dellagella, arrived in the U.S. from
Sicily, Italy around the year 1895, when they were seventeen years old. They were
married at Ellis Island and then began their news lives together in Philadelphia. They
came to the U.S. speaking only Sicilian, with no knowledge of English. Due to this
language barrier, their last name was mistakenly written down as Delagal. Sicilian is
part of the Indo European language family. It branches down from this overarching
category starting at Italic в†’ Latino Faliscan в†’ Romance в†’ Italo Dalmatian в†’
Sicilian. Many linguists have debated over the origins and the correct classification
of the Sicilian language. They argue whether it is a dialect of Italian or a language
all its own. Some linguists believe that Sicilian may have been the first Romance
Language, arising from a vulgar form of Latin. They have yet to come to a verdict.

He was proud and deeply rooted in his Sicilian roots. At home, he only ever spoke
Sicilian. However, Teresa understood the benefit of teaching their children English
so that they would do well in school and be able to make friends in their new city.
She was responsible for incorporating American language and culture into my great
grandfather s family. Due to this, my grandmother s father, Charles, was both fluent
in Sicilian and English. Contrary from his own father s language policy, Charles
decided to emphasize English only in his household. He married my great
grandmother, Anne, who was from Greensboro, North Carolina, and they raised my
grandmother and her siblings speaking English only, with a just few common Sicilian
phrases and vocabulary words so that they could communicate with their

Human civilization is linked with environmental destruction, and despite the many
implemented laws to limit the pollution released into the environment, degradation
persists because humans have enough influence to cause harm to the environment as
shown with overdeveloped human settlements (Shea). Global warming is growing as
a predominant problem that can affect future generations and to spread awareness
films are incorporating a pro environmental message. Studio Ghiblis Princess
Mononoke, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, draws a connection between
human greed and environmental consequences. The difference between this film and
many other environmental films is that the supernatural forces of nature serve as a
symbol of retaliation against humans actions instead of the consequences of those
actions showing retribution. In Animating Child Activism: Environmentalism and
Class Politics in Ghibli s Princess Mononoke (1997) and Fox s Fern Gully (1992) ,
Michelle J. Smith and Elizabeth Parsons state that the film failed to properly show
human run corporations as the direct cause of environmental disaster because the
supernatural creatures are represented as the immediate cause. I believe, however,
that the film appeal to the emotions of anger and hatred that began due to human
actions and that have led to the overall negative impact on the environment. Through
the characters, Ashitaka, and Lady Eboshi, and the portrayal of animals as Gods, the

Death Comes For The Archbishop Analysis
Death Comes for the Archbishop Reflection Paper
During the reading of unit three s Death comes for the Archbishop, God is easily
shown through the reading in book 5, primarily shown through Bishop Latour and
Padre Martinez during their discussion on celibacy. Knowing Padre Martinez is
strong willed and harsh minded person, their conversation on celibacy became
somewhat heated, but a learning experience for Bishop Latour. Bishop Latour was
able to understand much more about Padre Martinez by putting himself him Padre
Martinez s shoes during the conversation. He lowered his believes and standards,
showing humility, in a graceful way to see what was trying to be communicated to
him. Through this, he was able to see how Padre Martinez sees God

Principle Foundation of the European Union
The European Union (EU) was founded on the principles of liberty, democracy,
respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law .
Democracy can be interpreted in different ways, for it means the power of the
people where the public decide who they want as they leader by a majority vote
system who represents the views of the people. Lisbon Treaty gave these rights the
force of law therefore these rights are not to be violated by member states and must
maintain a healthy baseline of democracy. Many academics have argued that the
EU is suffering from a democratic deficit due to the Euopean not having enough
power and for other reasons which will be discussed. I will discuss the observation
of Joseph Weilers standard version of the democratic deficit and analyze the
strengths and weaknesses of his argument. This essay will examine the reasons
why many academics and authors believe there is a democratic deficit. Further
discussions will point to renowned intellectuals who reject the idea of democratic
deficit , such as Professor Andrew Moravcsik and Proffesor Giandomencio Majone
who both refute the idea that the EU lacks democratic accountability for different
reason which will be discussed in detail. My conclusion will include my belief that
the EU does suffer from a democratic deficit and this will be supported by the
powerful evidence that will be stated throughout this essay. Title II Article 10 of the

Australian Shepherds Research Paper
Australian Shepherds are the best herding dogs. Although there are a lot of
sheepdogs, Australian Shepherds are the best because they are very energetic,
love to work, and are great at herding. First, Australian Shepherds are the best pets
/dogs because they are very energetic. Australian Shepherds are very playful. They
love to play with toys, children, and they even love to go on walks. They are the
sweetest dogs to all age types, although if you are a little kid and are running and
playing, they might treat you like livestock. They love to cuddle with you, play
with you, or even hangout with you. They love to be with their people, or even be
around them. Their owners mean everything to them, and if somebody mis treats
them they will put them in their place! They are the most easy going dogs. In
matter of fact, they get along with all age types like I said above, they love little
kids. They love little kids, because the kids are very energetic and love to play, and

The way they heard is they bite or nip at the sheeps ancels, it helps point the sheep
into the right direction. Or they would even circle around them and run in front of
them so the sheep know where to go. Aussies love to boss around livestock. For
them it s fun, and there breed is known to do that. Aussies need to have good
hearing and eyesight to do their job. Brian Schmidt once said, Austallains have a
free spirit and an ability to think outside the box, and that s why I love Australian
Shepherds so much . Like for instance when I got my aussie apparently she didn t
have good hearing so she wasn t able to go the job, so we adopted her, but her
hearing is PERFECTLY fine. They are great as pets also. They love to be outside
being outside is their favorite things, like chasing squirrels or balls and being on a

Delia Hurston Analysis
(FIRST SENTENCE) Delia is a typical Cristian wife. She remains devoted to her
husband, regardless of all that he has done. Delia s husband, Sykes, is the complete
opposite. The author portrays him and his actions as evil many times throughout the
short story. The major theme of the story, good versus evil is displayed through
various symbolism and foreshadowing. The author begins the story by describing
Delia as a good, church going, hard working woman. The author then describes how
Delia separates the white clothing right after church. The white clothing is used as a
symbol of purity and goodness and foreshadows how the story will end. Sykes, Delia
s husband of fifteen years, is automatically introduced into the story as evil. The first

The author once again addresses how Sykes is evil when writing about the village
men talking on Joe Clarke s porch. Moseley states, that Sykes, done beat huh
nough tuh kill three women (Hurston, 707). Merchant then tells the others how
Sykes tried to impress his wife by bringing her pecans from Delia s house. Clarke
adds that no law would make Sykes a decent man and descries the way he uses
woman to a sugar cane; he squeezes all the juice out until nothing is left and then
throws them away. The author once again shows Delia s goodness and devotion to
her marriage in Clarke s market. Sykes began to order many items for Bertha, his
mistress, knowing Delia was riding by and would see him doing this. Delia avoids
talking to villagers in an attempt to blind herself from the truth that her husband had
been cheating on her for many months now. However, Bertha forces her to face the
evil truth by showing up at her doorstep and calling out for Sykes. Sykes and Delia
began to consistently fight. Delia tries to be friendly with her husband, but loses all
hope when he rejects

A Separate Peace

Setting: The setting in this book is extremely important. The backdrop of World War
II is reflected on the lives of the boys at Devon. At the beginning of the book Devon
is portrayed as paradise according to the main character Gene. The author really
paints a picture in your mind when he is describing Devon. Like for instance the
trees, the animals, and the rivers. Devon is sometimes considered the most
beautiful school in New England, and even on this dismal afternoon its power was
asserted. It is the beauty of small areas of order (Knowles 12). The story would be

I really didn t know much about Lance Armstrong before reading this book. I knew
that he was a record breaking seven time winner of the Tour De France and a
cancer survivor, but other than that, I wasn t really all that interested in cycling or
Lance Armstrong. Yet I still decided to read the book. As I read along in the book I
became more engrossed. I felt like he portrayed a lot of qualities that every man
should have. One of those qualities is his never give up mentality. It is said that his
mother taught him at a young age how to keep striving and to never give up. I
really feel like that is the main reason he overcame cancer and pushed himself to
break the record of winning the Tour De France seven times. When the doctors
diagnosed him with cancer he was unsure about some things. They told him that he
only had a small chance of surviving, but lance never gave up and was determined
to beat the disease. He researched a lot about the disease and he believed that his
commitment played a significant role in overcoming the disease. Even when
everyone gave up on him (including his own cycling team), he still managed to come
back and eventually win the Tour De

Cash Management Techniques and Methods of Short-Term...
Introduction
Proper cash management and efficient short term financing are both important and
beneficial to a company in order to maintain a competitive market share, which will
increase profit potential and shareholder value through rising stock. Cash
management can be used to lower or eliminate idle cash balances that do not earn
revenue, using the freed up cash as sources for short term financing through interest
building securities. Short term financing allows a company to secure needed funds in
order to meet production needs and gain maximum profitability.
The first part of this paper will compare and contrast the techniques of cash
management that are available to a financial manager and his/her company. Cash

International cash management is also subject to changing interest rates and risk of
currency fluctuations, which may devalue the initial amount deposited. Marketable
securities, although probably the best technique of cash management, run the risk of
increasing interest rates that will result in a loss to the company. However,
marketable securities are gaining popularity because of their high returns. As one can
expect, international cash management and marketable securities carry the highest
risk of the cash management techniques, but provide the best possible returns.
Description of the Methods of Short Term Financing
Trade credit occurs when a manufacturer or seller of goods gives a company
advance credit in the form of accounts payable. Bank Loans can be sought after to
provide funds for the financing of product line expansions and long term growth.
Commercial paper, another method of short term financing, is a certificate issued to
the investor, by the company, to signify a debt that will be repaid. Foreign borrowing
allows a company to seek outside sources of financing at lower interest rates.
Receivables financing and inventory financing both allow a company to secure loans
based on their current asset value.
Compare and Contrast the Methods of Short Term Financing
While all the methods provide ample short term financing, trade

Core Ethical Teachings Of Christianity And The Beatitudes
Christian adherents focus deeply on the core ethical teachings as they are the laws
they must abide by to reach the Kingdom of Heaven. Each of the ten commandments
as well as the beatitudes, and the Commandment of Love serve as the core ethical
teachings of Christianity. The Ten Commandments were received by Mosesat Mount
Sinai and were followed by the Israelites to ensure their safety. Within modern day
society adherents see the Commandments as a set of rules to abide by and a guide
to living an ethical life. The fourth commandment Remember to keep holy the
Sabbath day for Catholics is followed by attending church on Sunday. Keeping to
this law or rule allows for adherents to stay in the image of God. The Beatitudes are a

Essay The Policies Of The Palestine Liberation Organisation
The Policies Of The Palestine Liberation Organisation
Before 1964, most Palestinians hoped that Arab states nearby would destroy the
state of Israel. Inspired by Nasser in Egypt, they expected him to lead an Arab army
in a campaign to successfully destroy Israeli power. However, time passed, and little
progress was made, leading to many Palestinians becoming disillusioned with the help
they received from the Arab states that they were relying on. Instead, they began to
set up their own organisations, to defend Palestinian rights, and to fight against the
state of Israel. One of the first of these was called Fatah . Set up in 1959 by

Palestine should be an Arab state. These views were stated in the Palestinian
National Charter, a document that set out the key principles of the PLO. It was
originally written in 1964, but revised in 1968.
Yet Arafat had many problems. Fatah was the biggest group in the PLO, but there
were many others as well, meaning a very loose structure to the organisation. Many
of these groups took a much harder line than Fatah, and were based in Syria.
Another important policy was that the PLO insisted that Armed Struggle was the
best way to liberate Palestine. Arafat launched a guerrilla war on the Israelis,
driven by the success of the Algerian Nationalists in driving the French from
Algeria. But in this case, the Israeli forces were too strong, and the war failed. With
this failure, the PLO decided to launch attacks on Israeli civilians, and civilian
targets, these acts condemned as terrorism. Mainly carried out by splinter groups of
the PLO, the main body did play a part in the attacks. In 1970, 3 airliners were
hijacked, and destroyed in Jordan, gaining massive publicity for the organisation. In
1972, Black September, a group in the PLO, was responsible for the deaths of 11
Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympic games. 26 Israeli civilians were killed by
Japanese supporters of a group in the organisation at Lod airport, and in 1976, another

we will be looking at Jasper Jones , an Australian novel written by Craig Silvey. Just
like last episode s analysis of To Kill a Mockingbird , we will explore the deeper
meaning to personal and societal issues faced by a major character in this book.
Now let s rewind 50 years, back to the desolate setting of Corrigan. Put yourself in the
shoes of Charlie Bucktin, a young and frisky protagonist enduring a difficult journey
whilst observing the morality of Corrigan s people. Your pertinacious mind is an
uncompleted jigsaw puzzle. Each integral piece desirably wishes to connect to
another, to complete the entire picture. But nothing connects together, your mind
remains barren with no clue on what the heck is going on. Then you start to change
and think differently. Instead of focusing on connecting the pieces, you look at how
each individual picture connects to another. You start to question the reasons as to
why everything happens. Why? Why is Corrigan so afraid of the notorious Mad Jack
Lionel? Why is discrimination against the Vietnamese a regular occurrence? Why is a
half caste so underappreciated amongst the community?
Then, one piece connects to another... which connects to another... that connects to
another. This image in your mind, is the exact same vision Craig Silvey contained
when he constructed Charlie Bucktin. A

Love For England And Lucy By William Wordsworth
Before the Lyrical Ballad was published, William Wordsworth spent time in
Germany away from England. During this time, he composed a set of poems that
would eventually be known as the Lucy Poems . This set of poems would make
their way into the first edition of the Lyrical Ballad. All of them, except for one.
Out of the five poems he writes, I travell d among unknown Men wouldn t appear in
the Lyrical Ballad alongside the other four Lucy Poems (Locke, 44). This particular
poem, compared to the rest, is the most iconic poem for showing Wordsworth s love
for England and Lucy . I travell d among unknown Men is a four stanza poem with
four lines in each stanza. The format is in an ABAB style and consists of the first
and third line of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that Wordsworth puts In Lands beyond the Sea in his poem signifies that
during the creation of this poem he was, at one point, away from his home. In this
case that place was Germany. Wordsworth also does this in order to connect to the
audience on a deeper level of thought. For those who have been through a similar
situation as Wordsworth, they would feel the presence of walking among
unknown Men more noticeably than others. This stanza ties in with the following
stanza, Nor, England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee (lines 3 4), to
make the primary message of his poem clear: Wordsworth, during his time in
Germany, is realizing how much he loves England. Because he has stayed away
from England for a long period of time he begins to realize how much he loves it.
Wordsworth loves it so much so that he states that, once he returns to England, he
will never leave England again (line 6). The reasoning, however, is not because he
despises Germany or loves the country of England in its entirety. Rather, it is
because of the unknown figure of Lucy who is also a separate focus in this poem.
Wordsworth makes the connection between Lucy and England by expressing how
his feelings of joy and desire of England came from her presence. She is introduced
into the poem at line 11 and 12 in which she turned her wheel beside and English Fire
and is confirmed to be Lucy at lines 15 and 16 in which she saw a green field

Frankenstein s monster begins his life full of hope, displaying care for other people
and a desire for knowledge despite the abandonment and confusion he feels.
Somewhere along the road of his life, however, the creature s pain and loneliness
damage his internal being with violent results. At what point did the dark forces of
his outside world become too much to endure? Could he have ignored his reality and
continued to live in hope of a better time? Furthermore, how can we apply the
creature s struggle to humanity?
Circumstances or events in a person s life can affect him or her in a multitude of
ways and at a multitude of times. At the beginning of the book, Frankenstein s
monster is alone and confused, and yet he feels nothing but a desire to live fully
and with a good heart. The creature s explanation is simple: As yet I looked upon
crime as a distant evil; benevolence and generosity were ever present before me,
inciting within me a desire to become an actor in the busy scene where so many
admirable qualities are called forth and displayed (130). The creature is referring
to his time watching the cottagers, whom he observed and admired from afar for a
time at the beginning of his life. He sees only the good in these people and thus
looks on the world and his life from a positive point of view. He claims that crime

young imaginations. However, in some cultures dolls have been handed down to
kids to serve as tools of education and teach them about their heritage in a more

dolls to teach their young about their ancestors and the ancestral ways for centuries
with these dolls called Katchinas. They originated from the Hopi Indian tribes. Since

Indeed it is the fear that life will become too easily that often it motivates the Hopi

were practiced thousand years ago can still be seen today. Many of their artwork are

In the article, The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain, the author talks about America s
fascination with diet fads, telling readers about their widespread appeal as a fix all
for America s health problems and obesity. I have to admit, like a lot of people, I
am a bandwagon jumper. Whether this new fad be a new fashion trend or a new
video game sensation, chances are that I ve tried it. And new diet fads are no
exception for me.
One of the things that has become popular today is the cleanse. Cleanses can take
many forms, but the main function of these is to detox the body. Many scientists,
such as Dr. Joy Dubost, a dietitian and food scientist, warn people to shy away from
such cleanses that claim to give the body a total detox. Dubost states that, Your body
has built in mechanisms for detoxification, including your liver, kidneys, and
gastrointestinal system. Going on a cleanse is not going to aide these bodily systems
in doing their job. These are short term diets that often consist solely of liquids that
contain very little caloric value and can often make going on a cleanse dangerous.
As a child, like many American children, I ate relatively unhealthily. For breakfast I
would have sugary cereal and lunch and dinner usually followed up with something
equally bad for my health. However, after each one of these meals I would dart
outside to run around and play with my best friend. My high energy and active
lifestyle allowed me to get away with my diet at

How To Write An Essay
Writing an essay may seem like a huge obstacle to overcome, but with a plan of
attack and a little organization, it can be easily completed. All it takes is seven easy
steps.
The first step in your writing process is to just sit and think. If your essay is on an
assigned topic, sit and think about what approach you will have to the subject, if it s
possible to take a position on it. If you are allowed to decide on the topic, you can
take it in any direction and decide on a purpose. This purpose can be to tell someone
how to do something, present information you have collected on your favorite
subject, or even entertain the audience who will be reading it. Once who have
brainstormed some ideas, examine each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start each paragraph, it is best to write the main idea of the paragraph, and then
follow it up with supporting ideas to make your point clearer.
You will want to write the introduction after you write the body of your paper. This
is because you may come up with more major ideas while you are writing, which
may need mentioned in the introduction. The introduction should be at least four or
five sentences, but not too long since it is just to establish your position of your
subject. The first one or two sentences should be given extra thought, because they
are the attention grabber and can many times determine whether or not the reader
decides to keep reading or put it down. They need to state your position and give
way to what the paper will be about, and also make the reader curious and want to
see what you have to say. The rest of the introductory paragraph should be a basic
summary of all of your key points and ideas.
Next comes your conclusion, which brings closure to your paper, reiterating your
main ideas and views, giving your final closing statement. This final paragraph should
leave the reader with more understanding of the subject and/or your opinions of it. All
loose ends should be tied up, and most conclusions will restate your main idea from
the introduction.

Communication In Fahrenheit 451
Among the science fiction genre, Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 is an ever
flickering flame that refuses to be doused. With haunting artistry, Bradbury paints a
desolate world of alienated, mechanized human beings who are more connected to
their television screen families than they are to the spouses with whom they share a
pillow at night. As the protagonist, Guy Montag, so evocatively states, There are
billions of us and that s too many. Nobody knows anyone.
The advancement of technology, Fahrenheit 451 suggests, has paradoxically spurred
the deterioration of communication. Bradbury poignantly exposes this dismal fact in
one of the novel s first scenes, when Montag first befriends Clarisse McClellan, the
seventeen year old dreamer in a world of automatons. While Clarisse romanticizes
about archaic front porches built for the sole purpose of socialization and confesses
that her own family regularly trades in sleep for conversation, Montag interjects,
What do you talk about?
Throughout the novel, Clarisse is the rare seedling of hope in Montag s barren
world. As the amity between the two characters strengthens and Clarisse revels in
catching a glimpse of the man on the moon and tilting her head back to taste the
rain, Montag is finally jolted awake. At last, he begins to look really look at the
world around him. And the result is astonishing: for the first time in his life, he truly
feels something. As his perception finally clears and he absorbs his

The Flea By John Donne
A pleasure for two alike, is no longer a pleasure when forced on one by the other.
This is sex. In John Donne s poem, The Flea, poetry is used to express the power of
persuasion. Reverse verbal psychology and poetic expression are the ultimate tools
used by Donne to validate sex as being better than murder. Donne s poetic verbiage
is clearly seen from the very beginning, How little that which thou deniest me is
(1.2). Confidently, Donne speaks is if the act of sex is as tiny as the size of the
flea. Using the word, dentist is placed in the poem to initiate feelings of deprivation;
denial of an act he is entitled to. Donne s impeccable choice of words continue as he
tells that their blood already lies together within the flea; equating

The Iberian Peninsula Under Islamic Rule
Abd Allah B. Buluggin memoir the Tibyan gives an account of history in the
Iberian Peninsula under Islamic rule. During this era the text produced about the
land and history was destroyed or lost. Therefore making the Tibyan the best
account of history for that era, it covers the history following the Ibn Hayyan s era,
events and developments from the 5th/11th century, in addition it gives
perspectives of a Taifa prince and a Berber prince. Nonetheless, the Tibyan is a
memoir of Abd Allah B. Buluggin therefore making it opinionated and making
Buluggin look virtues in the beholder eye. When the Tibyan was being written by
Abd Allah, he was sent to exile in Morocco. Once a dynasty ends people begin to
look at the negative aspects of the dynasty and say the reason for its fall. Abd Allah
took the opportunity of writing the Tibyan so people may view his family rule in
the manner that he wants people to perceive his dynasty. He had accomplished this
through multiple decisions he had made throughout his memoir. Abd Allah the last
Zirid Amir of Granada wrote the Tybian originally in Arabic and later translated to
other languages. Arabic was the main spoken language among people that lived
under the Islamic rule. Abd Allah decision to incorporate lines from the Quran, the
Muslim holy book was strategic. Abd Allah writes And if thou ask them who
created them, they will surely say: God (Tibi 36) By incorporating verses from the
Quran it made the Tibyan look more appealing to

In the new model, IT staff had to learn to play new roles and required new skills. The

The Problem That Has No Name By Betty Friedan
The primary document, The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan is a literary
text, an excerpt from a novel. Friedan criticizes health professionals, scholars,
advertisers, and public officials for assuming that biological differences dictated
different roles for men and women. (Roark 730) It was published in New York:

one of her chapters in the novel and the apparent intended audience would be to all
women, old women, young girls and more specific middle class women. This
chapter in particular had a significant impact on the population of women. During

Women didn t feel happy, they felt empty but couldn t seem to understand and know

Factors And Success Of Sir Syed And Aligarh Movement
This inclination was introduced by Dadabhai Naoroji, by many Indians, he was

The Muslim leaders wanted to form a permanent political forum. The anti Muslim
activities of Congress too gave emphasis to the need of a political platform for the
Muslims from where Muslims could protect their interests. Consultations were held
between the Muslim leaders of Shimla Deputation after their meeting with the
Viceroy among themselves as to the probability of establishing a political association.
The reasons for the establishment of Muslim league are as follows:
1.INDIFFERENT ATTITUDE OF THE CONGRESS TOWARDS MUSLIMS:
All India National Congress was dominantly Hindu body from scratch. Their interests
were always opposite to the interests of the Indian Muslims. By 1906, Muslim leaders
were influenced that they must have their own party which may speak for the public
on all important events.
2.EDUCATIONAL AND ECONOMIC BACKWARDNESS:
Muslims had left far behind in education and economic progress from the Hindus.
Educational and economic environments can only be up graded by founding a

System Development Life Cycle ( Sdlc ) Methodologies
Businesses rely heavily on their information systems for decision making, an essential
component of organization management. Information systems serves several
purposes in a business, ranging from transactions and assisting leadership with
difficult strategy formulation. Advances in computer based information technology
in recent years have led to a widely variety of systems that managers are now using
to make and implement decisions (Alter, 1976). In today s businesses, systems
development is a process of examining a business situation to analyze better
procedures and methods to stay competitive. System development life cycle (SDLC)
methodologies are promoted as means of improving the management and control of
the software development process, structuring and simplifying the process by
specifying activities to be done and techniques to be used (Russo, 1995). Every
businesses have different types of projects that have different requirements.
Therefore, businesses must choose the SDLC phases according to the specific needs
of the project. There are different types of SDLC. These are Waterfall Model, V
Shaped Model, Prototyping Model, Spiral Model, Iterative Incremental Model, and
Extreme programming (Agile development) (Sami, 2012). Each of the models has
different level of risks and benefits to cope with the project requirements. This paper
will discuss the processes of System Development Life Cycle methodologies that

Bad Things About Penicillin
Over 50,000,000 peoples lives have been saved by the drug penicillin (Sim). Today
Penicillin and other antibiotics are crucial in the lives of people. One bad thing
about penicillin is approximately 11.5% of the population is allergic to it so the
diseases they receive that have to be healed by penicillin or other antibiotics might
not heal as fast or maybe even kill them. Another negative aspect to Penicillinis it
weakens the immune system(Cooper). Most of the body survives off of friendly
bacteriaand if antibiotics kill bacteria in large numbers, then it kind of defeats the
purpose. Penicillin is used to treat many diseases and viruses that can be deadly if
medicine was not applied, and they are easily accessible. After the discovery and
processing of Penicillin, it was often described as the Miracle Drug and that is
exactly what it was. Prior to the foundation of Penicillin, death was very common due

Art Criticism Of The Baroque Era
The Musicians In art criticism, the word Baroque came to be used to describe
anything irregular, bizarre, or otherwise departing from established rules and
proportions, (Britannica, 2016). Caravaggio, born Michelangelo Merisi (1571), an
Italian painter, can be said almost single handedly to have created the Baroquestyle
during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. None other can be more
appropriately defined as Baroque than Caravaggio; his character, like his art, was
confrontational and uncompromising, and both loved and hated. He introduced a
powerfully frank realism and dramatic, theatrical lighting and gesture into Italian
Baroque art. Caravaggio s unvarnished realism and tenebrism influenced nearly every
important European artist of the seventeenth century. (Stokstad, Cothren). By the end
of the 16th century, art began to break away from the refined and disciplined style of
mannerism, heavily influenced by the Counter Reformation of the Church, and
emergence of powerful monarchies. This movement comes to be known as the
Baroque Era. Baroque artists were particularly focused on natural forms, spaces,
color, and the use of light in order to create a strong emotional experience; almost
theatrically, inviting the viewer to participate in the story. The Catholic Church found
itself needing to influence and rebuild its following; turned its attention to the arts.
The Counter Reformation used the arts to appeal as much to the emotions and

Right To Due Process Analysis
Right to due process for government employees exists when the employee has a
property interest. The legislation requires that every employee is given a fair
procedural process before they get fired if the reason for being fired relates to a
property right. However, the government has set guidelines that guide the
termination in such a case. An employee is deemed to have a property interest in his
or her job if the employee has a reasonable expectation to be in that job in future. The
property right is not in the constitution, but they stem from rules or gentlemen
agreement from an independent source such as state law (Bajo, 2015). The following

Sarah Ruhl s Eurydice
In the 2003 play Eurydice , Sarah Ruhl reconstructs the classic Greek myth,
Orpheus, into a postmodernist body of work offering a new way of perceiving their
love. The death of Sarah s father highly influenced the playwriting and main themes
in the play as she wrote the play in order to cope with the loss of her father and help
her continue her adulthood without him. Written in the perspective of Eurydice, the
play follows her insecurities from life to death and the memories she holds. Sarah
Ruhl s creation of minimalist structures and absurd interactions furthers the overall
theme that one s love can hold deep value, but on the contrary can also hold one
back from life experiences, life opportunities, and overall personal growth.

Washington Consensus Pros And Cons

Consensus was created in 1989. The first written usage was in a background paper
for a conference that the Institute for International Economics convened in order to
examine the extent to which the old ideas of development economics that had
governed Latin American economic policy. In order to try and ensure that the
background papers for that conference dealt with a common set of issues, John
Williamson made a list of ten policies that he thought more or less everyone in
Washington would agree were needed more or less everywhere in Latin America, and
labeled this the Washington Consensus. In the Spring of 1989 when Williamson was

of the war. When Father and Tim are coming back from Verplancks Point, Father
gets kidnapped by cow boys. He is then killed in a British prison ship. Sam is killed
because he is taken in as cattle thief, which he really wasn t. He is then executed. The

One of them was Tim, whose brother was a Patriot and whose Father was a
Loyalist. A few examples are: on page 114, Tim and Father have a conversation
that shows they are depending on the British side, for protection against the
Patriots. This happens after they were attacked by the Patriots, and the Loyalists
rescued them. Tim is on the Loyalists side because of how they rescued him, and also
because he is depending on them. Another example is right after Tim saw Ned s head
chopped off. Tim decides he doesn t feel like being a Tory anymore. Tim throws up
all over himself when he sees Ned killed, and as he says, It was a long time before I
realized I was soaked with cold sweat and crying, which shows he doesn t like any
violence, and that war was tearing him up (page 145). As well as on Page 167,
when Tim says, ...I decided that I wasn t going to be on anyone s side anymore:
neither of them was right. That shows that war divides individuals because after
going back and forth for a while, Tim finally decided he wasn t going to be on any
side in the war anymore, because neither side was right. From the examples above,
you can see Tim vacillating between Patriots and Loyalist; torn by war, as well as
torn by family because of the

Abstract Automatic recognition of people is a challenging problem which has
received much attention during recent years due to its many applications in different
fields. Face recognition is one of those challenging problems and up to date, there is
no technique that provides a robust solution to all situations. This paper presents a
technique for human face recognition. A self organizing program is used to identify
if the subject in the input image is present or not present in the image database. Face
recognition with Eigen values is carried out by classifying Eigen values in both
images. The main advantage of this technique is its high speed processing capability
and low computational requirements, in terms of both speed, accuracy and memory
utilization. The goal is to implement the system for a particular face and distinguish it

Persuasive Techniques In George Orwell s Animal Farm
All boars may seem the same, but are they really? Is it possible to find both
similarities and differences between individual boars? In the book, Animal Farm, by
George Orwell, the animals on a typical English farm overthrew the human farmer
and began running the farm themselves. Napoleon, a quiet boar who tended to get
what he wanted, and Snowball, lively and innovative boar, saw this as an opportunity
to gain power and used their persuasive skills to help control the other animals. The
characters of Napoleon and Snowball used both similar and different persuasive
techniques to influence the animalsactions.
To begin with, Napoleon and Snowball were similar in that they both used the
persuasive appeal of pathos to convince the other ... Show more content on

Towards the middle of the story, when the animals first began building the
windmill, Napoleon needed the animals to work more in order to accomplish the
regular farm tasks as well as the windmill construction. He used a statement that
seemed to contradict itself, or a paradox, to get the animals to do extra work while
still allowing them to feel as if they had a choice in the matter. The text stated, ...in
August Napoleon announced that there would be work on Sunday afternoons as
well. This work was strictly voluntary, but any animal who absented himself from
it would have his rations reduced by half (Orwell 59). Napoleon s announcement
contradicted itself because the work was not truly voluntary if the animals were
punished if they did not do it. Snowball did not use paradoxes to persuade the
animals; instead, he used card stacking. Early on in the story, Snowball proposed
building a windmill to provide electricity for the farm. In his final speech to the
animals before they were to vote on whether or not to build the windmill, Snowball
listed all of the positive aspects of having a windmill and electricity, such as having
machines do most of the animals work for them and special features for their stalls.
However, he did not mention any of the windmill s negative aspects, such as the

Communication Is The Most Important Aspect Of Being A...
One of the biggest challenges facing leaders/managers is communication, yet it is the
most important aspect of being a leader/manager. Communication builds trust and
trust is a powerful force that builds loyalty, increases credibility and supports
effective communications. It gives you the benefit of the doubt in situations where
you want to be heard, understood and believed. For instance, developing a new policy
or changing a current policy, communicationis vital for all physicians and employees
to know, apply, educate, and inforce. Formaland informal communication are just a
few ways to communicate information (Beslin, 2004).
Formal communication is a type of verbal presentation or document intended to share
information and which conforms to established professional rules, standards, and
process. There are four types of formal communication such as: Upward or Bottom
up, Downward or Top down, Horizontal or Lateral, and Crosswise or Diagonal.
Upward or Bottom up, is the communication in which the flow of information goes
from sub ordinate to superior authority. Next is Downward or Top down, which is the
communication in which the flow of information goes from superior to sub ordinates.
Another one is Horizontal or Lateral, which is the communication between two
employees of different departments working at the same level. Last is Crosswise or
Diagonal, which is the communication between the employees of two different
departments working at different levels (Surbhi, 2016).

Realism In Jacobe s Room
Because the world had utterly changed, writing could not go as before; due to the
war and to new social relations... old plots could not include the new experiences
modernity offered up, the old styles of description could not get at the feelings and
landscapes modernity created... New questions, new subjects, new perceptions had to
remake fiction, and new forms were needed to make the changes possible... It had
to modernize, and find ways to say what the modern eye now saw to interpret
modern experience, and perhaps even to help shape its chaos into better forms of
life. (Matz 23) The modern writers deliberately avoid presenting the unity and
coherence of plot and character. There is a radical disruption in the linear flow of
narrative. They lessened... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jacob s Room composes of a series of pictures of Jacob Flanders taken from the
different stages of his life his childhood, his student days at Cambridge, his proud
independence in rooms in London, his love affairs, his visit to France and Greece,
his death in the war and then the room full of belongings. Jacob, the child, is seen
first on the sea shore watching an opal shelled crab beginning his journey on
weakly legs on the sandy bottom while his mother, Betty Flanders is writing a
letter to Captain Barfoot and his elder brother Archer is searching him calling Ja
cob! Ja cob! (Pg 8) Jacob is one of the three children of Betty Flanders; others are
Archer and John. On account of the death of her husband, Seabrook, two years
ago, the entire responsibility of nursing, bringing up and educating the children
has fallen on the shoulders of Betty Flanders. She asks Mr Floyd, the clergyman, to
teach them if he can. Mr Floyd teaches Jacob Latin and wants to marry his mother
but Betty rejects his offer. It is impossible for Betty to marry anyone. Rejected by
Mrs. Flanders, Mr Floyd marries Miss Wimbush of Andover and goes to Sheffield.
Before leaving them, Mr Floyd asks Archer, Jacob and John to choose whatever
they like in his study room to remember him by. Archer chooses a paper knife;
Jacob chooses the works of Byron in one volume and John, Mr. Floyd s

Fear In Children Of Men
Fear within the disastrous movie Children of Men can be portrayed as our society
today but, not as vicious. In the Children of Men everyone has lost hope for the
future once a precious, youngest 18 year old had died. They believe that one can
produce children therefore, no hope for the next generation. As for today our
problem is not that we can produce it is the fact that we do not show love for one
another. There are so many upsetting events and attacks that are tearing our world
apart piece by piece, hatred is just being thrown around with no care towards one
another but, there is hope at the end of the tunnel just how there was for Kee. Just
this year there has been such terrible things appearing on the news from people

The Discovery Of The Traditional Orthodox Form Of...
Gnosticism can be defined as the mystical perception of knowledge and was
considered to be a heresy that was condemned by those who followed the traditional
Orthodox form of Christianity. In the second century the movement of Gnostic
Christianity occurred; it is also referred to as a Christian sect (Carus). Though people
viewed Gnostic Christianityas a sect, it has never been denied that Gnosticism is older
than Christianity and the relation and importance between the two groups have never
been acknowledged (Gnostic Discoveries). Since the discovery of texts found at Nag
Hammadi which presents Jesusas a Gnostic teacher, the connection between the two
groups has grown exponentially, and Paul Carus the author of The Monist even
believes that Christianity is a branch of Gnosticism. Marvin Meyer a professor of
Bible and Christian studies, has found that the discovery of the Gnostic texts allows
scholars to get a deeper understanding of Christian teachings and relate the findings
to biblical texts (Gnostic Discoveries). It is said that Gnosticism formed when early
Christians did not agree with the Old Testament and that Gnosticism was another
way for them to understand Jesus teachings, which is why there are differences
between Orthodox beliefs and Gnostic beliefs (Mansager). In Gnosticism, Jesus,
instead of being looked at as a human, is only looked at as a divine being and the
divine being presents the key to reaching salvation. In line 39 of the Gospelof Thomas

The Second Sex By Beudie De Beauvoir Analysis
II.INTRODUCTION
Modern women are bringing down the standards and stereotypes that are put upon
them by society; but their success in breaking the stereotype and living freely in their
human state is not something that can be handed to them that easily. Women are born
into a world which subordinate them to men, making it as though their ultimate goal
and destination should be marriage, which makes it important to study their journey
deliberately.
Women are given a standard and pre destined path for them to play in their lives. In
the second volume of The Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir tries to describe how a
woman is trained to accept her position and what she has to go through as well as the
escape mechanisms that are permitted to her. We can then understand the problems
women face and their keenness for a better tomorrow.

De Beauvoir starts the list of problems off where the life of the woman starts as
well and continues as the woman grows older, and that is something I found really
amusing because it really shows how the problems grow along with the woman. It
really awakens you to problems in society in regards to the inequality of women
and makes you feel empowered while you read it. Reading this book will really
make one feel the need to take a stand against this male dominant society and break
free from the chains that lock women into

Cultural Changes During The Classical Civilization
History is often a term that comes up with reference to the Classical Civilization.
Although, history by definition is the study of past events, history defines and set a
tone for the societies that grew and developed over time. Throughout the early
struggles in time, the concept of change brought about many problems as well as
solutions. During the Classical Civilization, civilization like Rome,China, and the
Greece experienced prosperity, as a result leading to the demise of certain aspects of
the society. In addition, Rome, China, and Greece impact on trade influenced the
development of the early societies with varying degrees in success.
Trade encouraged the influx in prosperity and trade in China. In other words, trade
was major aspect of the early Chinese society as it made up majority of Chinese
economy. For example, the Silk Road located in China enabled for trade to happen
from Asia to Europe. As stated by the National Geographic, The Silk Road allowed
for trade goods such as silk, cloth and clothing, as well as spices to spread from
China to India, Arabia, Persia, Egypt, and extended all the way to Europe. This Silk
Road not only increased the trades occurring in the Ancient World but it also allow
Chinese products to permeate throughout. This trade in China and its connection to
the silk road also encourage means of cultural diffusion. Trade goods produced in
China were cloth and clothing, spices, and silk as stated by National Geographic.

Imagination; a Human s Special Sence Essay

Imagination: A Human s Special Sense
Human beings have the ability to create their own individual worlds through
imagination. However, the imagination is limited because of the constant use of
technology and the reliance on vision. The technological culture has separated
humans from the actual world and their senses; much like vision has done. In the
essay The Eyes of the Skin: Architecture and the Senses , Juhani Pallasmaa focuses
on the exploration of the senses and how they interact with one another. We also see
his discussion on how vision can affect the human experience. The more visually
capable we are, the more we begin to lose our sense of imagination. Similarly in the

We see that our imagination comes into play when our vision is obscured. Without
the sense of vision, our other senses quickly assume richness and power. This occurs
to blind people such as Hull, who at the age of forty eight became completely blind.
Sacks states that Hull speaks of how the sound of the rain, never before accorded
much attention, can now delineate a whole landscape for him...it throws a coloured
blanket over previously invisible things (304). In other words, we see that Sacks
is showing us how strong Hull s imagination was after becoming blind. Just
because Hull became blind, it did not mean that Hull s life was over. On the other
hand, it was a new beginning for Hull. He was able to make use of his other senses
and see how important they are. With Hull s imagination also came a sense of
intimacy with his surroundings. He felt as though with his strong visual imagery, he
had a strong sense of closeness, which evolves from imagining. The term delineate
has a significant meaning in Sack s text because imagination is what led Hull to be
able to portray the images precisely in his mind. Similarly, Pallasmaa states, anyone
who has half woken up to the sound of a train or an ambulance in a nocturnal city,
and though his/her sleep experienced the space of the city with its countless
inhabitants scattered within its structures, knows the

Armenian Genocide Significance
In the past 150 years, tens of millions of men, women, and children have lost their
lives in genocide or mass atrocities. Millions have been tortured, raped or forced
from their homes. ( Past Genocides ) Forgotten fire is a historical fiction by Adam
Bagdasarian. It is based on the author s great uncle s life during the Armenian
Genocidein Turkey between 1915 1923. It s important to study the Armenian
genocide and its victims because it is important to pay respect to the victim, teaches
people to accept each other, and recognize signs that can potentially lead to a
genocide.
It s important because remembering the victim is paying respect to innocent people
who were killed. An estimated 600,000 to 1.6 millions peopled died during the

Genocides are commonly known for their eight stages. The stages include
classification, symbolization, dehumanization, organization, polarization, preparation,
extermination, and denial. Massacres usually do not start until stage seven, or late
stage six. The time between stage one and six can give the public and foreign nation
plenty of time to address and combat the situations. For example, Armenians are
always differently classified than the Turks. a few warning signs for the
Armenians Genocide include the arrest of Armenian intellect in 1915. Other signs
people can look for include a group of people being treated less than human, the
group being considered second class citizen who has fewer rights than their
counterpart in the country. I have heard something about a Turkish massacre of
Armenian several years before, in Adana, but I was sure it was something else a
war of some kind, and not a murder, uniformed Turks battling uniformed Armenian.
(P10) Before the genocide, a mass murder took place in Adana and other Armenian
villages, which resulted in 80,000 death. In the book, the main character, Vahan, are
not aware of the actual event that took place. Not only does this show his ignorance,
it also accurately reflects the reality of the genocide. People ignore the earlier stages,
and when they did decide to take action, it s often too

Comparing Androidism And Hypothyroidism
Hyperthyroidism and Hypothyroidism are in simple terms the exact opposite of each
other. Hyperthyroidism is the over activity of the thyroid gland, and Hypothyroidism
is the unusually low activity of the thyroid gland. Each of these conditions resulting
and affecting the thyroid gland in a different way. I found a few differences with my
research but I m here going to present the few that stood out to me the most.
One of the biggest defining factors was the hormone output differences.
Hypothyroidism does not produce enough hormones. Whereas Hyperthyroidism
produces too much hormones. This is very important because hormones secreted by
the thyroid gland help maintain the brain, heart, muscles, and other organs, and help
the body to use energy

Freedom Of Information Act Pros And Cons
The Freedom of Information Act also known as President Lyndon B. Johnson signed
the Public Information Act into law on the fourth of July in 1966. FOIA is a law that
gives you the right to access information from the federal government. It is often
described as the law that keeps citizens in the know about their government. (foia.gov)
The freedom of information act allows civilians in the United Statesto request
information about the government, which is not readily available, online. The only
things that cannot be requested are anything that has to deal with someone s personal
privacy, the national security of the country, or about law enforcement. For a person
to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act, a person must go to the
FOIA website and either fill out the form required or send an email to a person that

The Freedom of Information Act has made sure that all agencies are open to the
American public in the information that they deal with. The Freedom of
Information Act is such a vital tool for the people of the United States because it
gives the American people the right to see what is going on in the government.
When this bill was first placed in front of President Lyndon B. Johnson, he did not
sign it. It was revised and the Senate had to pass its own version before President
Johnson decided to pass the bill in to a law. The House of Representatives passed
this bill with a vote of three hundred and seven to zero. I think that the Freedom of
Information Act did fulfill its goal. Hundreds of FOIA requests are made each year
to the government. This is not only significant for the people knowing what is going
on in the government but it is significant to the people who work for the government
because then they can t hide as much stuff from the people

Comparing Forster s A Room With A View
Set in the dawn of the Edwardian period, the title of Forster s A Room with a View
juxtaposes characters whom are accepting of social change and those who are
closed behind social conventions. Forster suggests that those who have a view are
progressive and open to new possibilities while in contrast, he mocks those who
reject the view as they remain allied to Victorian conventions. These comparisons tie
in to the period of the novelexperiencing transition where people s lives take drastic
turns because of it.
From their immediate appearance, the Emersons embody the idea of having a room
with a view. The reader figures out that Mr Emerson and his son, while they lack
propriety and claimed to be ill bred , they are out spoken and live ... Show more

This is exhibited through the characters of both Charlotte and Cecil whom Forster
gives satirical treatment to. Both of them create barriers and set limitations on
themselves, subconsciously and consciously disallowing for them to live an
honest and open life with a view. Evidently and of great irony, Charlotte sought to
have a room with a view in the Italian hostel, but only fastened the window shutters
once she obtains it. Her physically closing off the view in the room coincides the
indisputable fact of her narrow mindedness and disinterest of anything
unconventional and improper, revealing she is not prepared to take courage and
live a life with a view. Comparatively, while Cecil shares the latter, he also embodies
the conventions of Victorian society and fails to grab a hold of the exciting view
the Emersons hold. In the matter of passion, an aspect associated to a view, Cecil
has none and is lack of true feeling due to maintaining the true gentleman of Victorian
society. This is shown where he remains to that idea and doesn t show the slightest of
fervor even when Lucy breaks off the engagement. It is then obvious that those who
cannot hold passion and interest in a life without tradition will not obtain a room

Different Cultures And Values Of The United Scotia Nova...
We are all University Students that currently live in Halifax Nova Scotia, but have
all grown up in various places. Two of our members are from Ontario and the
remaining members from various parts of China. Given this geographical
separation, our group has some obvious diversity in our individual consumer
profiles. This is partly due to our different cultures and values. Our families also
greatly influence our contrasting consumer profile with our differing ethnical
backgrounds, different social classes and varying religions. Conversely, we all fit
into the age bracket of 18 25 so share some similar purchasing behaviour as
millennial consumers (Kardes et la., 2011, pg 38). We have all been apart of many
of the same world changes, such as 911 and global warming. This greatly sways
our prespective on which products we can identify with and our preferences.
Likewise, we all are at the same life stage (Kardes et la., 2011, pg 8). We are all
young adults, finishing up university and starting our independent lives with limited
disposible incomes. We tend to make most of our purchases online, allowing us to
find the best deals in the least amount of time. Most of us find that food is our
number one expense and value the bonds people make while sharing a meal. Many
of us find it difficult balancing our busy lifestyles and school, but work to covercome
these challenges. All of these inflencers guide our purchasing habits.
