WHAT IS FOLK DANCE?

Folk dances are the traditional dances of a country which were evolved naturally and spontaneously in connection with everyday activities and experience of the people who developed them.

The history of  Philippine folk dancing  incorporates influences from immigrants and conquerors while at the same time maintaining distinctly Filipino roots. Philippine folk dancing is a true reflection of daily life in past centuries while enchanting modern audiences at the same time.

LET’S DANCE AND CREATE! Within your group, talk and select six (6) common dance terms of the Philippine folk dances and create a 1 minute and 30 seconds dance presentation with your selected step. Steps can be repeated. You will be given a 10 minutes preparation. After doing so, You will present your output in front of the class. Your performance will be evaluated by the following criteria: Choreography-20 Accuracy of step-15 Mastery- 10 Cooperation-5 Total- 50
