What is a placard? A sheet of paper or cardboard with a written or printed announcement on one side for display in a public place . A placard is a notice installed in a public place, like a small card, sign, or plaque . It can also refer to paperboard signs or notice carried by protestors or demonstrators. It is also used by students sometimes for different awareness programs at school and other places.
ARE PLACARDS IMPORTANT? They inform the public about the dangerous goods which are regulated in transportation because they pose an increased safety risk to property and the public. Temporary placards may be placed on buildings such as warning signs when a structure is being fumigated, or has been condemned by building inspectors or the fire department and is unsafe to enter . Placard is used by students at school to make their studies more creative more and realistic as well as to create public awareness in different programs.
Before Preparation 1. Identify the main message. 2. Define and understand it. 3. Consider presentation and priting/writing requirements. 4. Be available with necessary materials. 5. Use wide surface or table. 6. sit in comfortable place with no disturbance.
S teps to follow while making placard Take a cardboard and cut it in rectangular shape. Take a stick and attach it to one side of the cardboard you have prepared. Now, take a chart paper (any light colour) and cut it to cover the cardboard. (Note: Only cover the side where there is no stick attached!) Keep it aside at a safe place. Take another paper and draw some pictures related to your topic. (Note: Make smaller pictures so that it occupies less space.) Now bring the cardboard and write your message in beautiful fonts. Use different colour combinations to make it more attractive. Cut out the picture you have drawn. Arrange the cutouts and stick them properly.
Cut a cardboard in a rectangular shape. Take a stick and attach it to one side of the cupboard and secure it with tape. Let’s learn from the pictures .
Cover another side with white or light color paper sheet. Paste the pictures and write your message. Draw picture and colour them related to your topic.
Things to remember while making placard Placard must grab attention in just one glance. Message must be understood in just one glance. Limit the use of capital letters. Image should relate to the purpose of the placard.
Don’t use too many colours. The background should be of light colour and should contrast the text colour. Design so that there is space and placard doesn’t look cluttered and cramped. Use variety of layouts. Try different colour combination, fonts, and sizes to make it look more appealing. (avoid more capital letters) T he Most Important Things about placard.
